Dallas
It was great texting with Caelyn last night. Honestly, I'm surprised she even got my number, let alone text it.
Fuck, I have class in five minutes.
I throw on a blue t-shirt and some jeans, then run out the door.
As I'm running to get to class, I see Caelyn running too.
We both look over at each other at the same time, and I grin at her. She looks away blushing fiercely.
That's pretty unusuall for her.
I get to the door before her and hold it open for her. She looks at me and I swear her lips form a slight smile.
When we get to class, we're in luck, because apparently our proffesor is running late too.
"Hey" I say still trying cat ch my breath.
"Hi" she says also panting trying to get her breathing back to normal.
"It was-."
"Sorry I'm late class, my car broke down. Open your books to page 126 please."
And now I have to wait to tell her later. Ugh!
****
Class is over and Caelyn actually waits until I grab all my books.
I walk in sync next to her.
"I had a lovely time texting you last night darlin'."
Caelyn's cheeks are tinted a very light pink.
"Yeah, me too Dally Boy."
I laugh a hearty laugh.
"Ah man, are you ever gonna let that go?"
"Of course not its too perfect."
I laugh again.
"Ahh shit! I have to go get the groceries today and my truck is in the shop getting service done." She sighs and even when she is frustrated, she looks beautiful.
"I'll take you."
Her eyes light up.
"Really! You would do that for me?"
"Anything for you darlin'."
"Thank you, Dallas."
She hugs me and I swear I feel a zap run through my body. By the look on her face, I'm sure she did too.
"Okay let's go to Stop-and-Shop!"
"Onward" she says with a big, goofy grin on her face.
We get in my truck and as soon as I turn on the ignition, both our hands reach for the radio and bump into each other.
"Oops! I'm sorry, this is your car, put on anything I don't care."
Aw, she's so adotable when she is apoligizing.
"No, don't worry about it, put on whatever you like."
"Thanks."
She turns on the radio and puts on the today's top music station.
"Oh my God, pull over now! I love this song and I need to dance!"
I do as she says and pull over.
That's when I realize we are in the middle of nowhere. She jumps up onto the tailgate and the music starts blasting out.
And the song she is about to start singing and dancing to, is Wiggle by Jason Derulo.
"You know what to do with that big fat butt
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
Just a little bit of... swing
Patty cake, Patty cake
With no hands
Got me in this club making wedding plans
If I take pictures while you do your dance
I can make you famous on Instagram
Hot damn it
Your booty like two planets
Go head, and go ham sammich
Whoa, I can't stand it"
Oh my fucking God that girl is shaking her ass like it should be illegal. And all I can do is stare.
She has her eyes closed and she is smiling, but she is still not singing. That's when I remember that she stopped singing after her brother died.
Another verse and a couple of choruses later she is done. She looks at me sheepishly and then steps off the tailgate, but I run over and catch her.
"Thanks for catching me" she says breathlessly.
"I'll always be there to catch you darlin'." I reply.
I hold her for a few seconds longer and then put her down.
We get to the store and finish our shopping, and then drive back home. Its been so nice being with her, and not having her hate me.
I drop her off at her dorm.
"Thank you so much, Dally Boy. I had fun."
"Anytime." I say with a big smile.
