Dallas
I'm driving down the road and I can tell Caelyn is getting really impatient waiting to find out where we are going for our date.
Well, that's okay, we are almost there anyways.
"Just tell me already Dally!"
"I don't have to now close your eyes, we're almost there."
She pouts and closes her eyes.
I put the car in park, and grab her hand. "Keep your eyes shut, darlin'."
"Okay" she whispers.
I lead her out of the truck and open the bronze gate to where I'm leading her. Its a pretty long walk to where we're going, but she doesn't complain at all.
"Okay, open your eyes!"
She opens them, and I hear her gasp. We are in a barn, surrounded by horses.
"Dallas, oh my God this is amazing! Where are we? Are you sure we're allowed to be here?"
I laugh at her question. "Sweetheart, this is my family's farm. And these are all my horses."
She looks at me like I'm crazy. "Dallas, you never told me this!"
"You never asked" I smirk.
"You know what? I don't care! Just get me on one of those damn horses!"
"Okay, let's see. Which horse, how about Thunder? She's a real beauty."
I watch her as she stands in awe at the beautiful carmel colored horse. I picked her out because she's great with new riders.
"She's perfect" she whispers. I frown because as she says this she pulls her hair down in a way that covers her scars.
I move her hair so it's not blocking her face. "Just like you" I whisper back.
She looks down and I can tell she's blushing so I make her look up. "Don't let anybody ever tell you that you're anything, but perfect."
And then I gently kiss her forehead. "You ready to go?"
She nods her head and she has the cutest smirk on her face, and I notice she has one dimple and it just adds to how gorgeous she is.
After I've saddled up Thunder, I grab Caeyln by the hips and lift her up onto the horse.
"Okay, so since you've never riden horses before-."
"Dallas Matthews!" she interrups. "I so have riden horses. All four years of high school! I bet I could even kick your ass in a race."
Did I mention I'm really competitive?
"Oh yeah darlin'? We'll see about that."
I swing my legs over to get on to my winning horse Lightning. "Okay, on three we race from this barn to that tree all the way in the back. One... Two..."
"Three!" Caelyn shouts and she's off. My horse and I race off, slowly gaining on Thunder and Caelyn. We are just pass them and are almost to the tree, when Caelyn zooms past me and taps the tree.
She beat me. Damn!
We are both panting for breath as we get off our horses and let them graze. Caelyn sits down right under the tree and I sit my ass right down next to her.
"What did I tell you, Dally Boy?"
"You told me that you can beat my hot ass in a horse race."
She snorts. "I said I could beat your ass, not your hot ass."
"Well, we all know you think its hot so you might as well just say it."
"You know, you're ruining this moment. I mean the stars are out, its a full moon." She gets really quiet now.
"You know, before my brother, you know died, he used to tell me this thing about stars. He said that... that... every time someone makes a wish, they get a star. And when that wish comes true, your star disapeers."
I look at Caelyn, and her eyes are closed and she's lying down on the grass. With a single tear sliding down her cheek.
I roll over and kiss the tear and she keeps her eyes closed.
"There used to be a star, right next to that big one" she points. "That was my star, Dallas. You made my wish come true."
I look at her now, my face directly above hers. She opens her eyes and immediately closes the gap of space between us.
Her lips are so soft, almost like velvet. It's a quick kiss, because I reluctantly pull away.
"Caelyn, that star that was next to yours, guess what? It's gone. That was my star."
"What was your wish?"
"You" I whisper.
