Flying With Purpose

(Luna's POV)

"Just leave them here all alone?" Destiny was pacing back and forth as she pondered that thought. "But what happens if they get worried about us? We need to at least TELL them."

Luke shook his head, "if I told them they would make us stay and lock her back in a cage."

"You don't even know if it still is her. For all we know she might be a wild animal now."

"I have.... faith."

"Faith isn't going to cut it, Luke. We need proof."

Luke sighed, "You do what you want, but I'm still going."

"Then you aren't bringing her."

"What?"

"You heard me," I narrowed my eyes at her and she seemed to catch it, glaring at me like she never had glared at anyone before. Luke caught on to Destiny's glare.

"Stop looking at her like that."

"Like what?"

"You know how you looked at her."

"Only because she was doing it to me!"

"You said she wasn't still human, so why would she glare?"

Destiny stared at us before sighing. I wiggled in Luke's grasp and he brushed his hand over my spine to try and comfort but after a while I got out of his grasp and landed on the floor, folding my wings back up gently. I looked up at both of them then began to walk towards the cave. Once I walked in they all were talking and suddenly I didn't feel so brave anymore.

"I still don't get why he gets the first kiss," Grizzly's tone confused me and I continued to listen.

"It's because he's easygoing and not a clutz or brute," I realized it was James.

"Eh, if she is still herself I know she won't forgive him for what he did."

"Now I have a question," James lowered his voice. "Would you still love her if she was a dragon forever?"

Grizzly shrugged, "I don't know. All I know is that she is the only person in a thousand years I could love."

"Ugh, you two are worse than I was!" The voice I realized was Jake and before I could listen any farther I felt someone pick me up and I yelped loudly, making everyone look.

"You found her!" James and Grizzly shouted in union. I stared at them.

"Uh....." Luke looked at me in his hands then at the rest of them. Before he could walk out though a new set of hands took me from Luke, clutching me softly.

"Woah! I did not realize she was so soft! I though she was going to be rough like a snake," Destiny's voice seemed to sooth me differently from before. My tail curled around her wrist for a better hold incase I slipped. She giggled lightly and adjusted her hold on me so I was more secure.

After a while I yawned, letting out a little squeak after. "We should put her in the cage so she can sleep," Said James. Everyone but Luke nodded. Luke watched silently as they put a blanket in the cage until it looked comfy and Destiny set me in the cage. I curled up in the corner and closed my eyes. Everyone else went and layed down in there makeshift beds and I waited as they slowly fell asleep. I noticed one of the people wasn't asleep but yet beginning to stand up and walk over to my cage.

I tensed as the hand was gentle and soft, unlike Luke's hands. I looked up to see that I couldn't focus on the figure. They picked me up and walked by everyone and I realized that it was Destiny that had me. She brought me over to her bed and sat me down, sitting down next to me. I looked at her and tilted my head, confused on what was happening. She picked me back up and sat me in her lap, petting me gently. I looked and notice that her bed was farther from the rest of them. Destiny's hand slowly stroked along my spine. I let my spikes along my spike go up and she stroked her hand along those as well. After a while she moved me next to her and layed down. I looked at her and she stared back at me, her goldish eyes gleaming. I sat down and stared at her. 

This went on for a while before hopping on top of her and looking at everyone else. My eyes focused on Luke and I slowly crawled forward. When I looked back I saw Destiny, staring at me. My tail swayed and I continued making my way until I found his bed and I crawled up next to him and curled up, closing my eyes and falling asleep.

(Luke's POV)

I opened my eyes and I felt a lump next to me. I slowly reached my hand out and touched a ball of scales. I froze.

"Looks like someone went against what we said," James voice sounded angrier than usual. I opened my eyes to seen everyone but Destiny standing around me. I quickly sat up and looked down to see that Luna was safely curled up next to me.

"W-what? I didn't do this!"

"Sure ya didn't," James growled, narrowing his eyes at me. I felt Luna begin to stir. "Who else would have let a wild animal out of a cage then let it roam free unguarded?"

"I did," Destiny's voice was so startling Luna even jumped a little in her sleep. "I let her out of the cage. I was first going to let her sleep next to me but then she went over next to Luke and I felt there was no harm with that."

Jake looked her in the eyes. "You let her out of the cage?" He asked. When he nodded he slowly relaxed. "But I thought you doubted that she was still there."

"I never said I doubted anything. Last night when I looked into her eyes I saw it was her, no new person or creature, it was Luna."

James looked so relieved that he looked like me might have wanted to jump in the air before picking up Luna and dancing happily with her. I looked down at her as she slowly opened her eyes, looking at everyone else. My heart skipped a beat as she yawned. When I looked back up I realized Jake was gone.

(James POV)

I flew up into the sky with a joyful caw. She was there! She was just like she was before. His Luna. No one else's. Just then Luke flashed through my mind and all I could do was hover. What if she accepts him and not me? I felt anger pulse through me. I hated that question that I had been asking myself for days. I closed my eyes and tried to focus. She will be mine. She will love me. With or without Luke's approval.
