feast of knowledge

we read these novels
to learn about life.
we crave to learn
of love, hate, death.
tragedy fills us
with longing.
through these characters
we learn morals
we learn lessons.

i've let my eyes
be exposed to
books of crime
and war or love.
classics and
foreign literature.

a library
is a feast of knowledge.

yet, no matter
how much i read,
i tend to never learn
that mistakes haunt you
and all humans—
fiction or not—
must fall to learn
how to rise
again.
