Melissa walked down the street rapidly, trying to get to her car as fast as possible. She usually didn't mind shopping, but today the mall was packed and she couldn't figure out why. She just wanted to get out and go home. Almost to the spot her car was parked, she spotted a Starbucks and hesitated. Something from Starbucks would usually always make her feel better but she really wanted to go home. Ah, screw it, she thought, as she made her way across the street to the little coffee shop, her feet hitting the concrete at a fast pace.
Walking into the shop, the smell of coffee instantly hit her. Inhaling deeply she felt every nerve in her body calm down. It was like a hot shower after a long day, taking a pair of high heels off after a lot of walking. It was refreshing. She placed herself at the back of the somewhat long line and settled in to wait. It wouldn't be long, at least, it wouldn't feel very long as long as she had her phone with her. Before she knew it she was ordering her drink and paying for it.
Mike looked over at the redhead that had just walked in. She was short, with medium-length hair that had been curled slightly. In her hands she carried a shopping bag from Sears, and a small black purse. She was wearing skinny jeans, a bright green shirt and neon yellow converse. Overall, her outfit was very bright and it was hard to miss her. He, Matt, Ian and Josh were all sitting at a table each with seperate drinks. Matt and Josh were both on their blackberry's and Ian was just being Ian. Not paying attention. Josh looked up from his phone just long enough to see Mike ogling a cute redhead waiting in line. He looked back up and put his phone down.
"If you like her, why not talk to her instead of being some creep?" He says, making the other man jump a little from the sound of his voice.
"Hmm, what? Oh, uh...I-I don't like her." Mike denies.
Josh shakes his head. "You're an idiot. It's obvious that you do. Just talk to her."
Mike crosses his arms. "No."
Matt chuckles. "Mike, I bet you ten bucks that if you talk to that girl she'd give you her number before she left."
"You're on!" Mike whisper-shouts, not believing that some random girl would give him her number, even if she did recognise him. He stands up and looks for the girl again. She was standing by the counter, waiting for her drink. He walks over to her slowly, his stomach turning from nerves. Just as he reaches her, he trips over his own feet, knocking down the girl and himself.
Melissa grabs her drink and suddenly is being pulled to the ground. Her smoothie spills all over her top and she hits the ground, hard. Looking around she sees a guy beside her, face-down on the floor. His face is beet-red from embarassment and he quickly jumps up, holding out a hand to help her up.
"I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to...I mean, I tripped and fell and....I'm so sorry." He apologises over and over.
Melissa laughs. "Hey, no harm done right? I'm fine, you're fine, the only thing that was hurt was my drink. She looks down at her shirt, which now had strawberry smoothie all down the front of it.
Mike gasps. He didn't know he had made her spill her drink. This is so embarassing! "I'm so sorry. Let me buy you a new one."
She shakes her head. "No, it's fine. Really."
"No, I'm going to buy you a new one." He insists.
Seeing no way out of it, Melissa nods her head. "Okay, if you insist."
Mike orders the drink and pays for it, then turns to the redhead. "I'm really am sorry."
Melissa shrugs. "It's fine, really."
Mike opens his mouth to say something, but is interupted by his phone. He takes it out and sees that it's a notification from Twitter. He opens it and frowns.
