{Koba's POV}

Koba's eye opened slowly, awakening He then noticed Devon, sleeping silently in his arms, which were wrapped possessively around him. Devon stirred, yawning softly and turning his blue gaze to Koba tiredly. Red tinted the human's cheeks, and he tried to move out of Koba's hold, but was unsuccessful when Koba tightened his grip. He then noticed why Devon was nervous, more or less. Sitting at the entrance of the den was Biscuit. How long she'd been there, he wasn't too sure on, not that he cared. She meowed, and Devon once again tried to get free.

"Koba, I at least need to get dressed."

Koba didn't want him to wear clothes though. None of the apes did, and Devon was a part of his tribe. However, he loosened his grip, and Devon nuzzled his cheek before sitting up and going to retrieve his clothes. Koba watched him move around the den, eyes raking over his smooth skin. He noticed the male's slight limp, and tilted his head.

"Hurt you?"

Devon turned toward Koba after slipping on his shirt. "Well, it hurts a little, but I've never um... done that before with anyone. It was my first time."

Koba sat up, watching as Devon slipped on his underwear and pants before walking over to his cat and picking her up. He then looked as Grey walked in, studying them.

"What?" Koba questioned.

'Apes want to hear from you. You have been away with the human for almost two days.'

Koba snorted. 'What I do is none of their business.' He looked at Devon, who found sudden interest in his herbs. "Come here," Koba said roughly, gesturing with his hand. Devon hesitated, still holding his cat to him. It only took a few seconds before he walked over to Koba though. He led Devon out into the open, watching as his tribe looked to them. Ignoring Devon's nervous look, he walked over to where he usually sat, with his usual inner circle joining him.

'Many apes want to attack Caesar.'

Koba looked over at an older male, Otis, who had signed, watching him continue. 'Think you are weak now. First human, now leaving Caesar alone.'

Otis was knocked back by a slap from Koba. He hissed before sitting back down beside Devon. "Koba not weak. Koba stronger than Caesar. Smarter than Caesar. Will kill Caesar." He took a moment to calm himself before signing. 'We must be smart. Caesar fought with humans before. Knows war. Must not let many apes here die.'

Otis huffed, grunting before signing. 'Head back to the human city. Look for guns that might be left there?'

Devon, who knew he wasn't allowed to talk much, signed after letting go of Biscuit. "Humans might still be there, those who are immune to the illness. Might be dangerous?'

'No. We will go look.' Koba paused for a moment before continuing. 'Any guns we can get are needed. We will go today.' He looked at the others for any objections. When none were given, he stood up, gesturing for Grey, Otis and another ape, Lecter, to follow him. They were already leaving, but Koba stopped upon feeling eyes on him. Turning, he noticed Devon following, and the bonobo shook his head and said "Stay."

"But what if you get hurt?" Devon asked worriedly "I should be there to help you-"

"Stay."

Koba sighed when Devon hugged him tightly, kissing his cheek. After separating, Koba called over a big gorilla named Big Tiny, signing 'If anyone hurts him, you and whoever did will be punished.'

Big Tiny nodded with a grunt, gently herding Devon away and back toward the other apes. He saw Devon's sad look, but turned away before he changes his mind and stayed. Koba turned back to Grey, Otis and Lecter, gesturing for them to follow him as he led the way out. They each took a horse, just in case they found anything that needed to be carried back.
