{Devon's POV}

It had been a day or so, the night eventually beginning to reach them after spending almost an entire other day at Caesar's home. Devon, Beck and Will were still welcomed to have their own look around. The two adults had of course done so, touring the large settlement and getting to know some of the inhabitants there. Beck had taken a sudden interest to that gorilla from the meeting though, Devon learning his name to be Red. Poor Beck was left hanging in terms of interaction though. Maurice told Devon that Red had been a Koba loyalist for the longest time, meaning he didn't exactly like humans. As Devon sat with Will under a tree, they watched Beck try to once again approach Red. The gorilla huffed, not even responding to the boy's greeting as he got up and simply left.

Beck sighed and walked over to Devon, sitting down by him and pouting. "He hates me." Devon looked over at Red, watching him sit down with Rocket and a few others to share a meal. Shaking his head, he told Beck "It takes some time. Koba and I didn't exactly become how we are in two seconds. Just keep at it, and maybe he'll come around at some point." Devon smiled at the surprisingly hopeful look Beck gave him. Looking over at Will, Devon chuckled softly at the raised brow the older man had.

The trio then looked up as someone hooted loudly. Looking up toward the wall going around the settlement, Devon could see someone pointing in the dark. And, if you strained your ears you could hear angry hoots and hollers from far away.

Koba had finally come to retrieve him?

The idea caused Devon to smile, but only slightly. Hopefully there'd be no attack. Koba likely found out that the three of them were kidnapped by his own apes, so maybe his anger wasn't at Caesar for now. Devon continued to look until Maurice came over, Nova right behind him. The orange ape looked at the three of them. 'Place to hide. Can hide you.'

Devon immediately shook his head. "I think this place is awesome, but it isn't my home. I'll be going, if I'm allowed?" Maurice tilted his head, but nodded. 'Of course.'

Beck sighed. "Then I'm going too." Devon blinked and shook his head. "Why would you? Will and all of your friends are here. It's just me over with Koba." Beck shrugged, answering "I've got a feeling we'll end up here again anyway. On what grounds, I'm not sure. We will though." He smiled at Devon, who smiled in return. They both looked up at an angry shout.

"CAESAR!"

Devon watched as the respected chimp made his way toward the main entrance of the camp, with Rocket and Red follow, and decided to follow too. With Beck and Will following, Devon looked as apes hurried around the camp, getting into defense positions as well as leaving through certain exits, perhaps to circle around and get behind the visitors if attack was necessary.

"Where are humans?"

Maurice held out a hand, preventing Devon from going outside in response to Koba's voice. They just listened as they heard Caesar respond. "Here, with me. They are fine."

Silence.

Caesar spoke again. "Maurice, bring him out."

The orangutan glanced up at Devon before removing his hand, and they walked together to head outside. Devon suddenly stopped though, and looked around back into camp. Relief reached him though, upon seeing Biscuit hurry over, meowing. He picked her up and continued his way out. The night was lit up with torchlight, allowing him to see Koba in the distance. The bonobo had brought a small group, maybe twelve or so. That meant he wasn't looking to fight. Devon glanced at Caesar, who said "You can have this one only-" The chimp glanced as Beck followed Devon out. Smiling softly at Caesar, the boy said "I'm going too."

Devon raised a brow at the grunt from Red, seeing the slightest bit of distress on the gorilla's face. He looked over at Red, who noticed and turned away, looking somewhere else. Devon smiled slightly before turning to Caesar, silently asking for permission to go. The chimp smiled softly and nodded, causing him to smile widely. Turning toward Koba, he hurried over. The bonobo got off of his horse to meet him, putting his arms around him, touching their foreheads together. Devon felt happiness and relief flood through him. "I missed you." It had only been a day or so, but it had felt so much longer. Pulling away, he nuzzled into the other's shoulder. Even Biscuit seemed happy to see him, sniffing at his chin and purring.
