Run! Don't look back, just run!

Time skip.

For the last 19 days, by Shuichi's count, Kokichi came into see him every other day to talk to him and fill him in about the lectures. They thought it would be easy to hide their newfound relationship from everyone else but they soon realised that it was wasn't.

They had to be aware of how they acted when they were around other people and they always got really anxious that they were acting the wrong way which only made the people around them think something was wrong.

Kaito defiantly had noticed something by now. He always looked at the pair of them suspiciously.

Right now Shuichi had just finished his rehabilitation and was sitting on his bed waiting for Kokichi to visit him. He said he would drop by later on.

Almost on cue, the door opened. "Hey Ko—" Shuichi turned to face the door and cut himself off because it wasn't Kokichi. He managed to save the sentence, Ko—- Kaito.. hey Kaito..."

Shuichi thought he had got away with it but Kaito noticed. "Waiting for Kokichi eh?"

Shuichi blushed obviously and Kaito laughed, finding the situation extremely funny.. for some reason. "You are totally smitten."

"I'm not smitten."

Kaito raised an eyebrow. "You've fallen so hard for him."

The truth was that he had fallen really hard for him and was estatic  that he was actually dating him but he had already told Kokichi that he wanted to wait for a bit before telling people so they would have some time together before everyone knew.

"No, I haven't." Shuichi shook his head.

"You have." Kaito shrugged, "Just ask him out or something, take a chance.. don't be scared."

Shuichi raised an eyebrow. "Like you were confident with Maki."

Kaito rolled his eyes. He knew exactly what Shuichi was talking about.

"You were so scared to ask her out, when you called her you screamed down the phone out of pure fear then threw the phone to me and I had to ask her out for you. It was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.. she thought I was the one who wanted to ask her out, you remember that?"

Kaito nodded then tried to speak but Shuichi continued on with the story, "And then, I had to explain to her that I was gay and that you were the one actually wanting to ask her out."

Kaito desperately stopped Shuichi from saying anymore, "Yeah, Yeah! You don't have to say any more! I remember!"

Shuichi laughed to himself, bringing up that situation always made Kaito stop what he was talking about because he felt to embarrassed.

"I guess Kokichi is quite cute and I do really lo—-like him.."

Kaito's jaw nearly dropped open.

"Did I just... Oh my god... (oumagod) nearly say that..." Shuichi thought, a shocked expression still plastered onto his face.

Neither of them said anything for a few minutes after what Shuichi had just.. nearly said.

It was either the worst timing or the best timing but Kokichi walked into the room, "Hey guys—" Kokichi stopped himself as he sensed the tension in the room, "Woah, what's with all the tension?"

Shuichi and Kaito turned to face Kokichi, seeing for the first time that he was in the room. They were speechless.

"How much of that did he hear?"

Neither Shuichi or Kaito said anything which made Kokichi think that he had done something wrong. "Did I do something?"

"No you didn't," Kaito started, "Shuichi was telling me that he thinks that you're really cute."

Shuichi's face turned to a deep red then reached out to grab Kaito, who was already walking swiftly towards the door.

"Kaito come back!" Shuichi called out to him.

"And he's gone..." Shuichi muttered to himself, not remembering that Kokichi was there.

"You think I'm cute?" Kokichi teased.

"Ah!" Shuichi screamed, in a surprisingly high-pitched voice, "I forgot you were here!"

Kokichi laughed then headed towards Shuichi and sat down. "You excited to get outta here?"

Shuichi raised an eyebrow.

"What the hell is 'you get outta here?' you never say that!" Shuichi started, "You sound like a person from a club."

Kokichi rolled his eyes, "Oh come on, I do not."

Shuichi nodded in reply.

"Anyway, I'm just excited to see my boyfriend is all," Kokichi smirked, "It's not much fun with you being in here, there are things we can't do when you're in here."

Shuichi smiled. Every time he heard the word 'boyfriend' it sent butterflies to his stomach. He was extremely happy to get out of the hospital, to spend more time with Kokichi. "Yeah, I'm excited for it."

Kokichi walked closer and sat down next to Shuichi's bed. "What do you want to do when you get out then?"

"I haven't really thought about it too much, Kaito has probably got something sorted. He always does even if I don't want to celebrate."

Kokichi was puzzled, "Kaito.. something planned.. celebrate?"

"Oh right, it's my birthday around a week after I get out."

"IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY?" Kokichi exclaimed, "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?!"

"Was I meant to?" Shuichi asked awkwardly, receiving a slightly annoyed look for Kokichi.

Kokichi simply crossed his arms, forcing Shuichi to speak first.. "Alright! I should of told you! Sorry.."

Kokichi looked at him with a serious expression for a few minutes before bursting into laughter. "I'm sorry! I couldn't keep a straight face! You don't have to be sorry, I kind of got that you aren't used to relationships?"

Shuichi shook his head, "Not really.. I've never had a boyfriend before.."

Kokichi smiled widely like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. He couldn't stop himself.

He was the one Shuichi chose.

"You can wipe that smile off your face." Shuichi smirked.

"No way." Kokichi replied, "Sorry, I've got to go and help organise the best birthday party you've ever had!"

Shuichi reached out to stop him but he was already out the door. Shuichi shook his head and smiled with himself. Kokichi was amazing, purely and entirely amazing.
