2. caught in the act

VESPER HAS ALREADY EXPRESSED HOW NERVOUS AND STRESSED SHE FELT TO PEARL AND ALANA. The party has been all she has been thinking for the past three days mostly because this will be the first time she will have a chance to be among noble men and women. And what was mostly bothering her was the fact her performance at this party will determent whatever she will fully be accepted or not.

Pushing those thoughts aside, or at least trying, Vesper filled champagne glasses with golden champagne that was very, very expensive. She made sure not to allow even the smallest drop of champagne to miss the glass. She was watched by many, especially by Manger, Manger's grandson and other waitresses. There were also a few guests that kept their eyes on her for more than just a second.

But how could they not watch her. She came from beyond the Wall, she may as well be a threat to a Royal family without them knowing. Thankfully, the technology today easily analyzed her. Ignis Scientia made sure to check the immigration of the day she said she arrived and he found her on the list along with her older brother; who is currently part of Kingsglaive in training.

And that all made her less suspicious, but it didn't help her with the uncomfortable feeling of being watched. Still she tried her best to meet the expectations and act professional just as it was expected of her. It felt hard, but Vesper believed that if Alana could do it, so can she. She had to try her best if she wanted to impress the Manager, but more importantly, she felt as if she had to impress his grandson who watched her without shame through the crowd.

"How are you feeling?" Alana wondered as she came to her side, putting a box full of drinks down onto the ground and placing all the bottles to their rightful places.

"Suspicious." Vesper answered with her voice coming out silent. "There is not a person who didn't look at me." She set the bottle aside and took another tray which she filled with champagne glasses.

Alana let out a small giggle. "Tell me about it. It was the same with me. People here tend to be cautious when it comes to immigrants." Alana answered. "But at least they give us an opportunity to work for the high class."

"True." Vesper nodded, her eyes making sure the glasses were perfectly set on the tray with necessary gap before she took the champagne bottle to fill them up. "When will the King come?" Vesper wondered.

Vesper looked at the crowd of people from where she was standing behind the bar. All of the men were dressed in expensive suits and women in long silky dresses. All of them belonged to the high class of Insomnia with deep pockets and a lot of influence, but not as much as the King.

"Any moment now." Alana walked to Vesper's side and looked over at the people before she looked at the girl next to her. "Just remember; if someone asks you something, don't nod or shake your head, it makes you look ridiculous."

"Okay." Vesper unconsciously nodded, her nervous mind making her thoughts quite slow.

Alana noticed it immediately and pinched Vesper's butt so no one sees. "No nodding."

Vesper's eyes wide as she stopped herself from jumping because she was filling the glasses with champagne. "Alana." She hissed. "No pinching."

Alana let out a small laugh, but gave her an impressive response. "Steady arm." She was impressed that Vesper held the champagne bottle without spilling when she pinched her. "You need to act confident and elegant." Alana reminded her. "There is a reason why Royal Restaurant & Catering is called "royal". We serve the high class and in return they expect us to act obedient, but professional." Alana told her. "Got it?"

"Yes." Vesper answered with confidence and no nodding.

Alana smiled. "Good."

Alana left Vesper to pour champagne into the other glasses without distraction. Alana went to place bottles that she brought into the fridge. Pearl came to the crowd and with an empty tray and lasting smile on her lips.
