THE UNIVERSE WAS COOKING UP PLANS FOR VESPER AND SHE DIDN'T LIKE THE FACT THOSE PLANS HAD TO DO SOMETHING WITH ROYALTY. In the direction her life in Insomnia started, she knew she will be rubbing shoulders with nobility and royalty. Sitting in the car with Prince of Lucis was definitely not something she ever thought she'll have to endure.
Vesper sat in the passenger seat with her eyes focused on the heavy drops of rain that wipers were tirelessly trying to wipe away. The car ride was silent with radio playing music. Vesper tried not to feel awkward within her own body as she sat in the luxurious car with only two seats. She found herself less awkward when she was examining how detailed the interior was and how comfortable the leather seat was.
Noctis, however, felt relaxed. He had been trust into many silent moments with women that he grew numb to feeling awkward around a woman he just met. But in the corner of his eye, he saw she was a completely different story. She was either looking at the dashboard of the car, looking outside the window and playing with her beanie which in the end she placed on top of her head.
Charmless Prince Noctis drove through the city of Insomnia with his direction set towards the Slums; which were one of the places Noctis has never visited, but knew how to get there. The traffic was as bad as it could get. Every time there's rain, people of Insomnia and tourists would drive around the car to get to their destination such as: restaurants, mall, cinema and other fun indoor activities.
With seconds slowly passing, Vesper did not even dare to glance towards Noctis because she felt nervous as hell when she was alone with a person of opposite gender. Noctis, however, was shameless. He glanced at the girl from the corner of his eye a few times; being completely unnoticeable when each time she was looking outside the window.
Silence continued and Vesper desperately searched for a conversation material to get rid of the uncomfortable silence. She could tolerate silence was one person for a few minutes, but then it gets too unnerving for her. And then, she saw it a potential conversation starter.
"That's a big statue."
Noctis glanced at the girl that finally revealed her voice to him and his eyes briefly took notice of the statue Vesper commented. It was large statue by the road and behind it, there was a park where people usually go for walk.
"Yeah, uh..." Noctis rub the back of his neck with his eyes returning to the road. "It's part of the Old Wall."
"Old Wall?" Vesper wondered curiously, her eyes finally setting themselves onto the Prince.
"It's part of city's defense." Noctis answered. "You've got the Old Wall and you got the New Wall. The Old Wall can be awoken by the King who wields the Ring of Light and the New Wall is constantly active by the Crystal. You can sometimes notice something purple in the air if you're looking from the right corner."
Noctis explained, but Vesper had no idea about anything he was just saying. Noctis glanced at her, noticing the distant look of lack of knowledge she had about Insomnia. Though, she did remember seeing something purple levitating in the sky a few times already, but never thought of asking someone about it.
"You have no idea what I'm talking about." Noctis commented with amused smile forming on his lips.
"None."
Chuckle left Noctis's lips upon hearing her voice popping out the answer, but in a way that he found funny. Vesper let out a small giggle along with him, finally replacing the awkward atmosphere that was in the car with a more enjoyable one.
"I really need to educate myself about Insomnia." Vesper commented. "And when the King awakes the Old Wall, what happens?" Vesper wondered.
"The statues come alive."
