As the long lasting drive finally came to a silver lining, I reached the Colorado border. The billboard approached rapidly with paint peeling off the corners and large words saying Welcome to Colorado and had a portly drawn picture of a Cow on the bottom. I smile with joy and excitement and speed forward into the next town.

Some people say I have a led foot and some people call me a suicide driver. I call myself a "fun" driver. As I'm driving to the next town a police car rapidly pulls out of a grouping of trees with the sirens ringing behind. Blue red blue red blue red the lights flash. I look forward to see if there is a car in front of me. Shocking as it is, there was no car. My heart beats faster and faster. I slowly pull off to the side into a clearing of trees. He parks the car behind me with lights still flashing. I keep my hands on the steering wheel and wait for his approach. He walks over slowly and looks into the open window glaring at me. He was an older man. He had dark brown hair with tan skin. He slowly asks "you do know you were going way above the speed limit? I reply no and stare at him. He scowled at me and writes me a ticket. It seemed like it had been ages until he finally finished. The ticket was $200. I barely had enough to cover the rest of my gas and food supplies. I didn't know what I was going to do. The policeman walks back to his car and begins to drive off hunting down his next speedster. Well that was a good first impression in the state of Colorado I think to myself. I start driving off and then all of a sudden a loud thud in the front of my engine starts to steam up. This can't be good. I get out and walk outside to the front of my vehicle. I lift the hood and steam blows all around my face. My engine has become busted and the car won't drive anymore. Not even the heaters work anymore. Well this is great I say to myself and sit on the back of my car with a blanket around my shoulders waiting for an upcoming car to stop and help me.

One car, two car, three car, 10 cars go by without even slowing down or looking at me. I felt like a fool and start to mope around. Finally after the 12 car goes by, a small white jeep approaches. There is dirt splattered across the sides of the car. It's old car but who cares at this point about looks. A young man steps out of the car and says hello. "Need a ride?" He asks. I nod my head and reply with multiple thankyous. He opens the car door for me and gets in on the other side. He asks me where I'm from and say Nevada for some reason. He nods and asks what I'm doing here for. "I was hoping I could get a start at a new life". He looks at me and smiles. He has a really pretty smile I think to myself. His eyes are bright blue like the ocean that me and Billy went to. He's tan and his hair is blond and wavy. I wonder what's his name and I ask. "My name is Jake" he replies and looks back at the road and continues driving.
