As I open the door to Jills it smells of cheeseburgers and ice cream and a small bell rings as the door fully opens. It smells heavenly since I have only been eating canned cold chicken noodle soup and canned corn. I needed this. I needed the taste of warm food on my aching and begging tongue. I wanted to feel the heat go into my mouth and slowly out my nose. I stand at a large waiting area watching cooks in the back scramble banging pots and pans on the stoves and throwing cold food into the pans. A young waitress named Josie appears in front of me. "Hi my name is Josie I'll be your waiter. Is there any more of you today?" I shake my head and she leads me to a small booth right in front. I sit down on the red leather seats that are seen in old school diners and pick up the menu. There are multiple cheeseburgers and salads and shakes. I could literally have anything right now and it would make me happy. I take a break from reading the menu and look around the diner. There are old school diner photos all around the walls and checked wallpaper surrounding this square building. The all of a sudden, I catch a glimpse of something. There is a window right next to me and I see the shop Jake went into. There is a another window in the shop. Jake is at the window. He stares at me. His eyes sparkle at me and he returns a smile towards me. His hand slowly raises into the air and waves. I wave back and smile. I sit back down and look at the menu peaking every minute back at Jake who is organizing a shelf in the window. "Hello, anything you would like to order or get to drink" Josie says. "Yes can I please get a glass of water and a cheeseburger with small fries. She nods and writes it down in a small note book. Her pen moves up and down fast and takes my menu. I think to myself that I can't look at Jake anymore without being creepy. I stare around the diner at the grease themed decorations and peak every once in a while at Jake. I swear, I have never been this creepy before. My burger, water, and fries coke and the sweet and warm smell hits my nose. I tear up and my hands tremble. I pick up the warm and heated food from my plate and feast. Jake is now in the back of my mind and I don't care how I look now. Food has never tasted so good. I realize...you only miss something once you have lost it. But I don't miss my mom or Billy. I only miss my home and food and that is all.
