I inhaled deeply before responding in a halcyon manner. "No I don't need any help. Thanks but no thanks." I attempted to move the box again but failed miserably. He chuckled.
"Something's never change." Daniel placed his hands in his pockets while looking at the floor staring at his feet. His gesture made me smile briefly but I quickly wiped that grin off of my face before I retorted. "What's that suppose to mean?" I raised my eyebrow in curiosity.
He licked over his pink plump lips afore speaking. "It means you're still keeping up with your consistent lies. Don't front like you ain't tussling with those boxes over there. All I'm trying to do is help." I gawked at him questionably then laughed taking what he was saying as a joke.
"You're kidding me right?" Daniel leered his eyes at me genuinely. "Since when do you want to lend me a helping hand?" I was in disbelief of what was coming out of his mouth of all people. He sighed. "Listen Sanaa, I know we've had our differences in the past, we can't change what has happened. Can we at least attempt to reconcile our hostility towards each other?"
I had dubiety and mistrust when it came to Daniel. Why would he want to resolve our animosity against each other now? "Why?" That was my main concern and was all I could say. He bit his bottom lip and furrowed his eyebrows. Daniel looked deep into thought, probably amending what he was going to say in his head before I interpreted his wording inaccurately.
"Tomorrow isn't a promise. I don't need to be beefing with anybody over something that happened unintentionally. We don't have to go around being Frick and Frack. All I'm asking is that we're able to tolerate each other." I giggled to myself at his correlation to Frick and Frack, a dynamic duo. That would never be my relationship with Daniel. Maybe he was right. Why would we waste they rest of our years over petty situations that we could handle like mature young adults?
I sucked my teeth reluctantly agreeing with him. "Fine. We can manage to cope with each other. I forgive your shadiness." He nodded his head. "I forgive your bitterness. Yet, doesn't the saying go 'forgive and forget'?"
I scoffed and folded my arms staring at him dumbfounded. "This doesn't get you off the hook for the callow shit that went down last summer. Trust and believe me you will get it. Karma is a pain in the ass." He smirked. I knew he was going to reply a sly comment.
"Fair enough. Now what exact 'it' are we talking about here?" I bit my lip holding in my laughter.
"You know that's not what I meant Daniel. I'll be keeping a close eye on you in general. Animosity doesn't wear off quickly."
He walked up to me keeping slight distance between us yet he was close enough. "I don't know what you meant but I defiantly know what you said. Believe me Sanaa I am already keeping an eye on you." He looked me up and down. 'Always been a flirt' I thought to myself.
He moved my hands off of the boxes then spoke. "Now move your weak ass out of the way and tell me where you want this box."
There's a possibility that coping with Daniel won't be as hard as I interpret it to be.
