Saturday Night..

I watched Ashanti as she brought the blunt to her lips. As she exhaled the smoke she began to cough hysterically. I laughed at her newness to this.

"You're ruining my good girl image." I told her as I took the blunt from between her fingers. Ashanti scoffed then responded,

"Child please that image of yours has been gone since the Stone Age." She looked at me blankly.

I rolled my eyes then replied, "The Stone Age, really? Corny ass."

I placed the blunt between my lips inhaling then exhaling the smoke through my nose. As the room filled with comfortable silence Ashanti then began to start up another conversation.

"Speaking of ass. I want to know why Daniel was all over your ass last night?"

Here comes love life counselor Ashanti.

She looked at me with a sly smirk taking the blunt and finishing the small bud that was left. I was a little surprised she didn't choke that time.

I sighed knowing this topic would come up sooner or later. I was hoping way later than sooner.

"We were just talking. The both of us agreed to work on our friendship. We are on good terms now." I told Ashanti.

"How good are these terms? Are you two rekindling old flames?" Ashanti questioned wiggling her eyebrows. I smacked my lips at her.

"Ashanti we are just friends. That was the past. We have both moved on." I responded watching her face expression. She wasn't convinced at all.

"Why can't the both of you stop being so in denial? I understand you went through some shit last summer but it wasn't just you Sanaa. Daniel suffered too. No matter what either one of you say I know how the both of you feel about each other. Why do you think I always ask about you two? I've been waiting on you both to admit your feelings. Hell, I'm still waiting." She responded.

I was now completely silent. Why does she always have to be right about Daniel and I? Ashanti left this discussion in the air until I was ready to reply.

"I hear you. If it's meant to be for us then something will work out. I'm not trying to jump back into what we had last summer." I finally replied.

She nodded her head as I began to get up. This conversation was killing my high.

"I'm going to get a snack. I got the munchies. Do you want anything from downstairs?" I asked.

"Just bring my sweet tea out the fridge." Ashanti responded. I nodded and made my way to the door.

"Sanaa one more thing." She stopped me before I opened the door. I turned around to face her.

"Daniel really loves you. I know this for a fact. He might even be in love with you. I know you feel the exact same way." Ashanti said.

After she made her statement I walked out the room.

He might even be in love with you. Was all that kept repeating in my head.
