Chapter 9:Ask Out.

 Everyone went the day back to St.Mary Junior High School. Rita was not very happy because she wasn't going to enjoy all the taunting. At least she had Jenny.

She started getting ready for school. She put on a baggy knit sweater and some skinny jeans with flats. She brushed her hair. It was nice and wavy. She put in her contacts and looked into the reflection. She smiled.

She reached over and grabbed Emily. "Well, I'm about to go to school Emily. I'm going to be home later."

Rita walked to the cafeteria to see Jenny waiting for her. Rita smiled and walked over to her and hugged her. "Hey Jen, what are you doing on break?"

Jenny shrugged, "I don't know. Maybe just shop and hang with my family. Can you believe that Christmas is only in a week?" Rita squealed. "I know right?? I'm so excited!!"

They kept chatting until Rita heard a huge commotion at the table across from them. There were girls running around, squealing, and circling someone at the table.

Jenny frowned. "What's going on?" Rita shrugged. "Who cares? I'm starving."

Suddenly there was enough space to see who they were all squealing about. Rita squinted and looked closer. It was....

THE BOY SHE HAD MET AT THE PARTY!!!!!!

Neymar! But what was he doing here? She didn't even realize he went to their school.

Neymar was trying to get away from all the girls when suddenly his eyes met Rita's. He smiled really wide.

"Rita!!!!" He pushed through the girls and made his way towards her. Jenny looked shocked. "Where did you meet HIM??? He's cute!!!"

"I met him at Daisy's party." Rita said. Neymar finally reached them and he stood in front of Rita.

"Hey what's up!" he said as he was smiling widely.

Rita blushed hard. "Heyy..."

Neymar was about to say something else until Daisy pushed her way past, grabbed Neymar's arm, and planted herself firmly next to Neymar.

"I can't believe you are still trying to steal my supermodel boyfriend!!! Too bad, he would not ever like a loser like you. You are too big of a dork to be talking to someone of his class. He is way out of your league anyways."

Neymar pulled his arm away from Daisy and said "Oh shut up Dairy or whatever your name is. Rita is way better than you. She is nice and pretty and I can tell she has a good heart. At least she isn't broke like you."

Daisy was shocked. Neymar gently grabbed Rita's arm and led her away with Jenny gaping at them.

They sat at an empty table while everyone stared and whispered. Neymar rolled his eyes. "She gets on my nerves. And don't listen to her. I don't date girls like that anyways."

Rita laughed. They started talking for a while before Neymar stopped to look at her. She noticed and said "Um... yes?"

He stared at her for a minute and said, "Do you want to hang out sometime? I know it's kind of weird but I want to get to know you and maybe be friends."

Rita stared at him shocked. "Do you actually mean it?" She hoped he wasn't pranking her.

Neymar was about to respond but then a girl came up and said "But she isn't even pretty at all!!! I'm way prettier than that beaver!!!"

"Well, no one asked you!" Rita snapped. "You are just jealous because he likes me and not you."

Rita didn't want to have to be mean or anything, but she was tired of everyone calling her ugly. She had enough.

Before the girl could say anything, Neymar ignored her and turned back to Rita.

Then he said "I do mean it."

They sat down and Neymar said "It doesn't have to be a date or anything like that if you think that's what I mean. We can just hang out." Rita hesitated but then said yes.

"I'll pick you up on Friday then." he said happily. "What's your address?"

She gave it to him and suddenly the bell rang and she lost him in a crowd of people.

Rita got off the bus and skipped all the way home. When she burst in, she saw Karen eating a salad.

"Mom, guess what?!?" Karen rolled her eyes. "What."

"Someone asked me out at school!!! His name is Neymar and-"

Karen interrupted her. "Wait someone asked YOU out?? I find that hard to believe." Rita said, "Well believe it because I am going on a date with him on Friday. Well it's not technically a date-"

Karen spits out her smoothie all over Rita. "What?? Who is he? Does he have a snap chat or something?"

Rita grabbed a napkin and wiped her face off then started thinking. "Well, he has an instagram."

Karen grabbed her laptop and looked it up. "What is his last name?"

"Cooper."

She started typing and his profile came up. When she clicked on it and she gasped. "He asked YOU out??? How is that even possible??? He must be pranking you. He's quite a looker."

Rita shrugged. "I don't know how it's possible but yeah."

She turned and started going up the stairs because she didn't feel like hearing Karen. She flopped on her bed and started thinking about Neymar. He was so nice to her and no boy has ever paid attention to her before.

She brushed Emily's hair and told her about everything that happened that day. But as usual, she just stared blankly back at her.
