Rita was sitting at the kitchen table, eating pancakes and bored out of her mind. She was still sad about Jenny and couldn't get over it. Emily was sitting at the table beside her. Karen walked in.

"Why is that horrible thing always sitting at the table??" Rita rolled her eyes. "I already told you. She's my friend."

Karen rolled her eyes too. "You need to put that thing up. It's hideousness is blinding me."

Rita got up and grabbed Emily. "Whatever. I'm going to the bookstore." She put Emily in her purse.

Karen said "Good. At least I don't have to stare at either of you."

As Rita walked into the library, a cold rush of air hit her face." Emily wiggled out of the purse. "What is this place?" She said with a disgusted tone.

Rita stuffed her back in. "Shhh keep quiet!!"

Suddenly, the store owner Mrs. Nicolas walked in.

"Hello Rita!!!! How nice it is to see you here!"

Rita quickly smiled back. "Hey Mrs. Nicolas!"

Mrs. Nicolas smiled. "What brings you here?"

Rita sighed. "Oh well I couldn't stand being at home with my mom. You know how she is."

Mrs. Nicolas nodded. "Ah yes, I remember her as a student. She was very... Interesting."

Rita nodded. "Yeah well I'm going to go look for a new book to buy. Or a few."

Mrs. Nicolas said "Oh yeah you go and do that, I'm going to go put up some old stuff in the storage room." She slowly walked towards the backroom.

Rita walked around the store for a while, looking at the weird bracelets and dream catchers. She picked up a red and brown bracelet and decided to buy it.

She sat Emily down into a chair and sat down with her looking at some books.

"Hey Rita I just remembered- Oh my goodness what is that?!?!?!??!" Mrs. Nicolas shrieked as she walked in.

Rita followed her gaze to Emily. "Mrs. Nicolas, this is my doll."

Mrs. Nicolas shook her head frantically. "Oh no!!! that is not a doll, it is a demon!!!"

Rita frowned. "Mrs. Nicolas you must be mistaken-"

Mrs. Nicolas grabbed Rita's arm. "Come let me show you, I have a ton of things to tell you about this doll. It belonged to my old friend Shelby long ago."

She led her into the storage room. She pulled out a box from under a table and handed it to Rita. "Here you must take these and look at them."

Rita took the box warily. "Um I will but I think I'm going to go to the bathroom really fast."

Mrs. Nicolas nodded. "Okay but hurry back. I need to tell you everything about this little doll of yours."

Rita set the box down and ran to the front of the store. She searched around. "Emily where are you??? We need to get out of here-" Rita looked around and Emily was nowhere to be found.

"Emily??"

Rita ran to the storage room. "Mrs. Nicolas?"

She looked down to see Mrs. Nicolas on the floor dead with blood pouring out of her skull. She had multiple slashes across her stomach, arms, and legs.

Rita screamed as loud as she could. "Mrs. Nicolas!!!!! Don't worry I'll get help!!!!"

She ran out and saw Emily sitting on a table. She frowned. "What's going on?"

Rita snatched Emily and stuffed her in her bag. "Not now Emily we need to get help!!!"

Rita ran across the street to a bakery and asked the owner for help. He called the police and they were there investigating for hours. A police dropped Rita off home. "You were very smart to call. I'm sorry for what you saw and I hope you have a nice day."

He drove off and Rita walked inside. William was sitting on the couch with Karen. "Rita, where have you been???? I heard there was a murder downtown at a bookstore!!"

Rita started crying. "It was Mrs. Nicolas."

William hugged her and Rita hugged him back. Karen rolled her eyes. "Well I'm glad she's gone. She was my old teacher and I hated her."

William glared at her. "Why don't you go to your room? We don't need you here right now."

Karen gasped but then turned and stomped up the stairs with Rita still crying.
