A Feeling (Moana X Maui)

It was about one and a half months since Maui and mine's adventure. I was mending one of the boats on the beach. A storm earlier today had ripped the sail and broke some poles. I yawned into the crook of my arm and looked up at the pale blue sky. My eyes were drawn to a familiar shape, flying above. No way...... I jumped up, grinning ear to ear.

"MAUI!!!", I cried out. The shape came closer and I heard a familiar battle cry.

"CHEEHOOOOOO!!!!" Maui shifted back to human and landed in front of me with a loud 'thump!' He was grinning with his arms flung out to the side, his hook in one hand.

"I'm back, baby. Did ya miss me?" I ran right into his outstretched arms. His hook dropped to the ground. I tried to pull away.

"Ack, sorry Maui, I-" My breath got choked off by Maui squeezing me tight.

"I missed you, kid. It's kind of lonely out on the ocean, alone." My faced got warm and I was thankful that my face was buried in Maui's chest, so he couldn't see it. I mumbled,

"I missed you too, Maui. Its been a while...." His large hands landed on my shoulders and pulled me away from him. His eyes raked up and down my body, almost like he was making sure nothing changed. Or... almost like he was checking me out.... His grin stayed for a moment.... then it faded. He looked over at the sand.

"What's wrong, Maui?" He looked back at me, deliberating. I stiffened when he leaned into my neck, his lips touching my ear and said,

"I'll tell you later... Just, be prepared for anything." He moved away and walked off down towards the village. I stood there for a moment. What. Was that? He was so close.... My face was already warm from being so close..... it just got warmer. I raised my shaking hands to my cheeks. I took a couple deep breaths. Why was I having this kind of reaction?? Towards Maui? I shook my head and walked in the direction Maui had gone.

When I reached the village, I looked around for Maui. He was leaning on a tree nearby.

"Hey, princess. What took you so long?" I stuck my tongue out at him.

"I have told you before. I am not a princess. I am the daughter of the cheif." I raised my eyebrows at him and started to walk to the village. I was stopped by Maui grabbing my hand. I looked at him. He winked.

"Shall we tell everyone that Maui has returned from his long and dangerous journey?" I laughed.

"Yeah, add in a couple of dangerous trips to Lolotai and encounters with angry gods." His laugh was loud enough to draw the attention of the villagers. I tried to pull my hand from his but he held on tighter. I hissed,

"Maui! Let go!" He just smirked and pulled me through the village. My face burned.

"Maui!!! People are staring!!!"

"Let them. I don't care." He looked at me in a way that sent shivers down my spine. My breath caught once more. We approached our main hut. I tried to pull my hand away and succeeded. We walked in to see the council, convened. They all looked up as we walked in. They quickly stood and bowed. Maui looked my father in the eye and said,

"I need to borrow your daughter for a week or two." There was an audible reaction. My father just looked at Maui.

"What's the problem? Why do you need her?"

"May I talk to you for a moment? Alone?", Maui and my dad turned away and whispered together for a minute. They turned back around and they both had smiles on their faces. My father cleared his throat and said,

"You may go, Moana. Just..... be careful." I gave him a hug and turned to Maui.

"Shall we?" He grinned and pulled me out of the hut. He pulled me to the supply hut and started packing things into a large sack. He pulled it over his shoulder and pulled me to the boat cavern.

"Woah, Maui! Where are we going?! What is going on?!" He slowed to a stop and tossed the sack onto the boat with the heart of Te Fiti's spiral. He spun around and pushed me up against the stone wall. He was so close to me. I stared up at him

"There are two reasons I wanted you for a couple weeks. I told your dad both of them. He approves of both. One, the least important one is pretty dangerous. But, the second one....." He hesitated. His chocolate brown eyes locked on mine.

"I asked your dad if...... If I could marry you."
