A Feeling (Moana X Maui)

I woke with a start, my heart pounding. I had just had an awful dream. I just.... couldn't remember it. I was still in Maui's lap, his arms wrapped around me. I looked up at the concerned look on his face. I shook my head.

"Just a dream. I can't even remember what it was about." He nodded.

"I gotta get up now, this is a tricky stretch of ocean ahead of us. I hopped off his lap and watched him stand and stretch. He hadn't changed a bit since the last time I saw him. He was just so muscled. How on earth can someone even have that many muscles? He grinned when he saw me looking at him.

"See something you like, princess?" I rolled my eyes.

"We're engaged, Maui. I can look all i want. Let's just focus on wayfinding, hm?" His grin widened and he turned to the ropes, chuckling to himself. Hours of monsters, rough seas, and burning sun passed and we arrived at the strangest place. It was literally stairs going up. That's it, nothing else.

"Is this.... it?, I asked Maui, casting a glance towards him.

"These are the gateway stairs. They are only visible to gods and those who have been summoned. It's rare that a human gets summoned. Only one other mortal has ever seen the halls of the gods. That mortal was one of your ancestors. He helped calm a fight between a few of the gods. " My eyes widened.

"That's... really cool! We don't have to do that, do we?" Maui laughed as he tied the boat to a post at the bottom of the stairway. We got off the boat, not all that exited for the climb.

"All I was told was that a god had gone rogue and we were needed to help stop them. I was given no other details." I sighed.

"Let's go, then.", I said and we started climbing.
