<sad>
"Sammy, don't leave me." I stroked his forehead and kissed his cheek. I felt a tear drop from my face.
*4 hours earlier*
"Happy 67th, baby."
I rolled over with pain in my back and faced my beautiful husband sam who had the same spark in his eyes since the day we met. "I love you so much." I kissed him on the cheek.
He slowly sat up in bed and slipped on his shoes. He made his way around the bed to help me up.
"One, two, three!"
He helped me up the bed and into the bathroom.
"Thank you, Sammy. I can take it from here."
"As always, my princess." Sam walked out, leaving me at the sink.
I looked in the mirror. 91 years of wrinkles and he still calls me princess. I looked in her mirror and saw my wedding photo behind me. 67 years ago today i walked down the aisle and said "i do" to the sweetest man alive. I looked back up into the mirror and began brushing what I had left of my hair.
"Mr. and Mrs. Wilkinson, good morning!" Our caretaker, Sally walked through our door.
"Morning, Sally!" I said from the bathroom.
"Happy anniversary guys! Going anywhere special tonight?"
"No, we have a wonderful evening planned at home."
"Oh my gosh! Mrs. Wilkinson! Come quick!"
I dropped my brush and walked as fast as I could towards the living room.
"What is it???"
"It's Sam! He won't wake up! I'll dial 911"
My heart sank. I walked towards sam who was unconscious on the sofa.
"Sammy? Please, wake up! What's wrong? Sammy speak to me."
"It's okay, Mrs. Wilkinson. The ambulance is coming."
"Sammy! Stay with me.."
------
I watched as the paramedics lifted him onto the stretcher.
"Sammy." I spoke, for I could no longer yell.
"It's okay, I'll drive you to the hospital Mrs. Wilkinson. Everything's gonna be alright." Sally comforted me and helped me into her car.
------
"Room 107, ma'am."
Sally wheeled me to Sam's room. He had a stroke.
"Sammy?"
"(Y/n).." He moaned.
"Sammy. Don't leave me." I stroked his forehead and kissed his cheek. I felt a tear drop from my face.
"I'll never leave you, (y/n). I'll always be with you. Never forget that."
I continued to cry while stroking his face.
"Sing to me, (y/n). I love your voice." He said, wiping the tears off my face.
I softly sang in his ear.
"I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you, that gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do.."His smile faded and he began to fall asleep.
"..You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream.."
The monitor went off. It was over. I kissed his cheek one last time and stared at him. I couldn't cry, I couldn't stand.
-----
I walked out of the room and was greeted by my children. They were crying.
"It's okay, mom." My daughter, Lana said holding me.
*6 days later*
I'm sitting on my chair, remembering what went on that day. My daughter walks in.
"Momma? You alright?"
"Yeah, baby. I'm fine."
She walks into the kitchen with a bag of groceries. She puts them away and talks to me.
"I'm glad to see you're doing better. Sara misses you, I told her Id bring her back when grandma was better. Maybe we'll stop by later on this evening."
I feel sharp pain in my chest. My eyes widen and I try to signal to my daughter that I need help. I give out and fall on the floor.
"Mom!" She comes running from the kitchen.
"Mom! I'll call 911!"
I cant speak and the world slows down. I begin to fade away and see a young Sam.
"Sammy?" I manage to whisper.
He smiles.
Suddenly, my daughters yelling ends and I follow Sam's voice. We're together again.
