Clary POV
The party was in full swing and I was currently with Jesy, who was chatting up a boy from my old high school. He was cute and not that bad looking but he was seriously not my type, so I just sat there adding in bits of conversation and nodding where appropriate. Not forgetting I was also steadily drinking an assortment of alcohol,(which is not advised!) to pass the time.
Soon enough the random boy, whose name I couldn't quite remember asked Jesy to dance so I was yet again alone with my own thoughts. After finishing the remaining sip of my Bacardi and coke I grabbed Toby a drink and went over to see him. As I moved closer to the speakers that were near the DJ decks I could feel the bass of the music vibrate in my chest, I walked around the back, careful not to tip the drink I had brought for him all over the wires or fall over them myself.
As I got close Toby looked up and smiled at me, sometimes I overlook how attractive he is... or maybe this is just the alcohol talking. I handed the drink and he thanked me briefly and asked if I wanted to take over. I just nodded briefly and handed me my headphones, which I had lent him for the night. I assumed he would have forgotten his and I was right. I put one of the speakers on the headphones on my right year and listened for the right part of the song I wanted to stop at and cue it up.
I gazed across the crowded dance floor and saw a mixture of familiar and stranger's faces. In amongst the pulsating crowd I could spot my parabatai dancing with the guy from earlier and she looked like she was having fun. The mass of jumping, sweaty bodies moved perfectly in time with the atmospheric bass of the music I mixed through the speakers.
I could feel sweat start to bead on my forehead and the back of my neck as I stayed longer up there under the glare of flashing lights and odd gazes from the crowd. One thing I love about DJ'ng is the power that music has over everybody. How it influences their emotions and movements and holds the whole room together. Mostly, if you're a DJ, who is not famous you hardly ever get noticed. But little do the people know that without you this whole thing would never be a fraction of the same. That feeling is pretty cool...
A cool breath fanning over the back of my neck, almost made me jump out of my skin. I swirled around and it was my ex- boyfriend, Hunter, smiling down at me. I raised my eyebrows at him but still grinned back. My fairly intoxicated state made me forget about our last set of arguments and made me happy to see him.
His arms slid around my waist and pulled me closer to him, our foreheads pressed together.
"You haven't danced all night yet, have you?" he said, his breath tickling my face. His lips practically toughing mine. I moved out of the enclosure of his arms and shrugged my shoulders.
"I'll take that as a no" he murmured while drawing circles with his index finger on my exposed shoulder. "Let's go!" he said, his serious manner diminished and he grabbed my hand, leading me to the crowd of people dancing. On my way past I told Tobias where I was going and he took over again, moving from where he was talking to a girl. He and Hunter nodded to each other and did one of those guy hug thingy's and then we carried on our way to the dance floor.
When we were in the bigger space I took notice of what Hunter was actually wearing. A tight fitting black t-shirt, which showed a rippling of muscle underneath and denim jeans slung low on his hips. Topped off with a leather jacket, which he had just left with Toby at the DJ booth. No one can dance in this heat with a jacket.
Hunter wrapped his arms around my waist again but this time I didn't refuse his touch. I reached up and rested my arms around his neck and let the music go through me. Both of us swaying in time, talking and laughing like we hadn't ever argued. The songs slowly crept up in tempo and so did our dancing. The songs really did showcase how good of a dancer Hunter was, that is actually how we met. At a club and he danced well and so did I. Little did I know we had been going to the same dance studio since we were children and both loved street dancing. Our relationship really hit it off from there and I always help him with choreography for his dance classes.
"You look beautiful" Hunter leaned in a spoke into my ear, a little louder than usual so that I could hear him over the music.
"Thank you" I called back and was rewarded with one of his mega watt smiles that I loved so much. Hunter was actually quite a tormented person, aside the bravado, a genuine smile was like a god send to me.
"There's no need to thank me because it's true.." he smirked into my ear and a small flush threatend to creep onto my cheeks. I was suddenly aware of the closeness between our heated bodies as he leaned in to kiss me. I responded almost instantly. Our lips in perfect synchronisation, I reached up to tangle my hands in his tousled black hair. He responded by pulling us closer together again. The way his sculpted jaw line and high cheekbones were more prominent in the strobe lighting made him seem even more angel like. I sighed softly to myself and leaned up on my tiptoes for another kiss. Again our lips moulded together perfectly, I pulled on his supple bottom lip and asked for entrance, which he tried to deny but failed. He never resists that, I smirked into the kiss just before I swept my tongue into his mouth. Exploring all the corners of his mouth and grazing my tounge over his teeth, our frantic mouths still battling for dominance. Our breathing began to get more ragged, making me pull away to catch my breath. The same sparks from the first time we kissed had greeted me, shaking me out of my drunken haze once again.
I don't know how long the kiss lasted this time but almost as soon as I did pull back, I caught sight of Jace with his tongue down the throat of some brown haired girl from across the room.
Why did it hurt me so much?
Hey people!
Sorry I haven't updated in a while but I hope this made up for it... the length certainly does anyway.
There is another part of this chapter coming up maybe next week or as soon as possible. Sorry about the length but I hope reading it is worth it!
What do you all think of my new character Hunter? Do you want to see more of him or is he over as soon as he began? haha :)
Thanks to all my reader so far and people who continue to check out my updates, I never thought I would get this many reads over a year! I would love to have some comments on what you think as your views and opinions are very important to me. Just as a little spolier I'm going to say that Jace's POV is next... so what do you think will be going through his head? BTW this is all unedited so sorry for any mistakes.
Thanks again guys,
Rebecca

Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters, they all belong to Cassandra Clare except the ones I have created myself.
