Hi guys, this is my first fanfiction so please be nice but feedback would be appreciated.
Just a disclaimer: any incorrect information in this fanfiction is purely fiction and made up for the purpose of the story. Hope you enjoy, and if any of you are going to see 5SOS on the Where We Are tour you will love it!! Went to the last Wembley date last night and haven’t cried that much for a long time, so proud of One Direction but also 5 Seconds of Summer.

(Mikki POV)
“Hello? Ash?”
I turned my spare key in the lock of the Irwin’s front door, slowly pushing it open and scanning the familiar hallway. Anne-Marie, Ashton’s mum, and my mum had been neighbours as children and had known each other for their entire lives, so the Irwin family was practically part of my own. Mum and Dad had long ago accepted that if I was home, it was safe to assume I would be hanging out with Ashton, and vice versa.
As I heard the familiar sound of guitars and a bass being strummed, soon followed by a steady drumbeat and muffled singing coming from the basement, I sighed in realisation. I should’ve assumed Ashton and the other boys would be rehearsing; 5 Seconds of Summer were about to support One Direction on tour for the second time, this time on a stadium tour, and they were set to leave in a few days.
Even though I’d been to every concert so far, their quick-growing fame never failed to amaze me; it felt like just yesterday that I’d told Ashton about these three boys in my class at Norwood Christian College who were posting YouTube videos of themselves performing song covers. In the past two or three years, the number of people who watched YouTubers had shot up, but back in 2011, it hadn’t really been considered the cool thing to do. Being discovered on the Internet, especially living in Sydney as opposed to America, wasn’t really something people saw as being realistic, so people considered what they were doing to be a waste of time.
Ashton hadn’t been impressed at first; he’d said they weren’t going to become successful and famous if they were forgetting their lines and laughing on camera, and I’d gotten surprisingly defensive of the boys, even back then.
I’d only really become friends with Michael and Calum earlier that year, around the same time they’d become friends with Luke and had joined him on his YouTube channel. Back then, I’d been hopelessly shy and didn’t really have any close friends at school, so when I’d been assigned to do a group assignment for English with Michael and Calum I’d been terrified. To my surprise, we’d ended up getting along really well; Michael and Calum might have been loud and funny when they were at school with me, but they would always made sure that I felt comfortable and at ease around them.
Once the assignment was over, I’d started hanging around with them out of class, though Luke and I bickered constantly, because he felt the constant need to insult me, something which the other two boys found hard to understand, considering we’d gone to the same kindergarten and primary school as well as Norwood. But as a result of being friends with Michael and Calum, I’d scored myself an invitation to a house party Michael was having for his 16th birthday, and had immediately asked if I could bring Ashton along.
