Names
Cloudwings are named after things that usually pertain to the sky:
· Weather patterns (Hurricane, Snowstorm, etc)
· Cloud Types (Cumulus, Stratus, etc)
· Space objects (Star, Comet, etc)
· High flying birds (Eagle, Condor, etc)
Flocks
The CloudWings value freedom above most things in life. Their life revolves around the enjoyment of life and flying freely. They also value family groups as a whole, so families stay together. The same goes for friends, so family group may join together from a friendship between two dragons.
These groups of CloudWings are called Flocks. Flocks stick together, and leaving a Flock is considered extremely uncouth. The exceptions of this is if the dragon leaves for Magisalla or to join a high-ranking flock.
Flocks are usually named by the Flock itself. The dragons get together and come up with a name for their Flock.
There are a few notable Flocks within the Kingdom;
· The Royal Flock, made of the Royal Family and their servants.
· The Storm Guard Flock, made of the Elite trained dragons stationed to guard the Royal Flock.
· The Seer Flock, the biggest Flock in the Kingdom. Making their home in the Shrouded city, and named after the historical doings of the CloudWing Nimbus, who read the stars and predicted variety of weather based events.
· The Eclipse Flock is a regular sized Flock, but they are known for their seasoned teachings and elemental counselling. Dragons are taught and are urged to pick up specific Side Magiks that correspond with their main element, giving them special powers when the main and side are mixed.
Flocks communicate over long distances using a variety of calls perfected by the CloudWings. These calls range from modified bird calls to those similar to the velociraptor in Jurassic Park. Each call is different to each dragon's voice, so dragons will know who is making the call if said dragons have memorized the other dragons' voice.
Wingeries
Wingeries are well known in the Cloud Kingdom. They are the most common building in the entire kingdom. Every Wingery had a small settlement around it for the caretakers and dragonets living there. Couple drop off and label their eggs, leaving CloudWing dragonets to be raised in complete social environment. Dragonets bond during their years there, being raised by caring caregivers as they await their parent's arrival.
When a clutch is dropped off, the parents meet with the caretakers to name each egg and to document who the parents are and what Flock they come from. That way, dragonets can be distinguished and their parents can know who is their child.
Wingeries send notice to surrounding Flocks and any Flocks that dropped off eggs to inform them of Parent Meetings. During these days, parents come by the Wingeries to visit their growing dragonets. Some dragonets get to leave with their parents to explore the world, while others stay behind a little longer before they can go out into the outside world.
Wingeries also tend to act as orphanages. Orphaned dragonets tend to flock together. In fact, it is not uncommon for a group of orphans to create a new Flock. Wingeries tend to be the birth places for new Flocks.
