Monarchy
The CloudWings are ruled by a Monarchy, just like any other Kingdom. However, the challenge to the throne was cast out, as it was seen as too violent for the CloudWing's tastes.
Instead, the Queen chooses one of her daughters as an Heir and trains that daughter in the ways of being the Queen. This may sometimes spark jealousy in the daughters not picked, but there is no political way of changing who the Heir is unless the Heir dies and the Queen must choose another . The Queen is pressured to choose wisely, as the Heir she chooses is the Heir she is stuck with. The Heir becomes the Queen in either one of two ways; Either when the current Queen dies, or when the Queen steps down and allows the Heir to become Queen.
All dragons from the direct Royal bloodline (Queen, King, Princess, Prince, etc.) are in charge of the kingdom. They distribute the work evenly between themselves.
Social Rankings
The queen, of course, is at the top of CloudWing Rankings.
The next dragon down is the Heir to the Throne, not the King. The Heir must take on serious responsibilities in their training, becoming an almost Pseudo-Queen. The Heir holds almost as much power as the Queen.
The King is close in power to the Heir, as sometimes they are given some of the responsibilities in running the Kingdom by the Queen.
Under the King is the Princes and Princesses and their spouses and children.
At the same level or just under the royalty is the Storm Guard and their Captains. The Storm Guard is an Elite group of specially trained soldiers who are stationed at the Royal Island, and are assigned to guard the Royal Family and the Palace. Their Captains can range from being assigned dragons to even a Prince or Princess.
The lines between ranks are blurred after the Storm Guard.
Family Life
Families stick together for life. The only time dragons may leave their Flock is if their Flock is giving them a reason, or if they leave their Flock to join another or to start a new Flock. Couples are widely excepted, not matter the gender the two dragons are.
When eggs are laid (3-5 eggs a clutch), they are either brought to a Wingery or kept within the family. CloudWing parents usually go to the nearest or most well trusted Wingery they know, so that their dragonet will hatch and interact with other CloudWing dragonets. The parents do not stay long, as CloudWings do not wish to stay grounded in one place for too long, even if it's for eggs. They do name their dragonet, however, by labelling the egg, that that they know who their dragonet is when they return.
Education
Normally, CloudWings teach their own dragonets how to read, write, and other things. There are a few schools in the Kingdom that teach dragonets the skills they wish to learn. CloudWing parents usually send their dragonets to a school only when the parents are too busy to teach their dragonet themselves. There is a total of four known schools in the Kingdom;
· The Royal Academy – Which is located on the Royal Island. This school is a semi-private academy where the Princes and Princesses go to learn. Sometimes CloudWing parents who have busy occupations will send their dragonets here, as it is one of the best.
· Storm Guard Training Camp – The Storm Guard sends out scouts to monitor Wingeries to try and find dragonets that show potential for the Storm Guard. Dragonets who are accepted are sent here to be taught normal school subjects, then taught advanced military tactics. They are also sent to Magisalla, as the Storm Guard requires one to have an element.
· University of the Fog – Located in the Shrouded City and run by the Seer Flock. This school teaches dragonets normal school subjects, as well as offers advanced classes.
· Elemental Academy of Magisalla – Sending a dragonet to Magisalla is a norm in the CloudWing Kingdom. Students travel to the Neutral Territory to start out, then they finish their training in the Elemental Territory they are sent to. After they finish training, they return home.
Professions/Jobs
The CloudWings do have a number of jobs in the Kingdom;
· Wingery Caretaker
· Royal servant
· Bartender
· Mapper
· Outpost Guard
· Librarian
· Teacher
· Private Tutor
· Blacksmith
· Stoneworker
Other "professions" are typically hobbies of other dragons. What they love to do is what they are. Jobs in the kingdom don't pay the dragon any currency, due to the CloudWing's disinterest in such things. Jobs are more of a formal term for occupations a CloudWing will willingly partake in.
