Chapter 30

Sophie was in her room rummaging through her closet when she found that same dress she wore in her nightmare and the dress she wore when she escaped and apparently, she managed to keep them both all these years. She even found the red ribbons in her drawer by her bed. Along with the ribbons, she came upon an ancient diary which she used to write in all the time. She started to have a flashback.

She was four years old and wearing that same dress in the nightmare and she was locked in the one-room cottage for says on end and she was sitting at her desk writing in this diary about her miserable and painful life there in the underworld. She wrote in it everyday as the horrifying events occurred. She was writing in her diary with tears falls from her eyes.

She threw herself on the bed and lied down on her side when she opened up the book to a random page in the middle and started flipping through a few entries with cursive handwriting when she found a page that instantly grabbed her attention away when she saw a rose inside the page.

Dear Diary

Today was the most horrifying day of my life. I was terribly beaten by a belt and was nearly killed. But Hathor saved me. It became a very gloomy day and I was lying down on her bed clutching my dolly dreaming about the moment I escape from this place. Once I closed my eyes,I saw that Senkhara looking at me dead in the eye and threatened that if I ever escape,I will regret it. Every time I lift my beaten arm,all I feel is pain and the blood dripping. Every night,I'd cry myself to sleep. I was roaming through the dead meadow the day I became locked in here when I found the last colorful thing that stood out from the dead grass:the rose. It's been a night of lightning, thunder and wind rustling through the night and I've been locked in here for days without food or water and I'm quite famished and dying of hunger. Every once In a while, they bring me food.I'm being kept in here till the crowning which is only six years away and after the crowning,I don't have to be in this lonely, miserable cottage anymore. Every night,Hathor would come and visit me and tell me that I will make it out of this place alive and well. I never believed her but the hope has always came to me.

                                                                                                               Love,

                                                                                                       Sophie Miller

Sophie closed the book receiving that memory of that very day. In fact, she still has that scar from the beating to remind her.
