Ch. 8

I WAS NERVOUS as I sat in my last class, waiting for the end of school. I kept glancing at the clock to see how long until it was over. Time seemed to be going by extremely slow.

Kyle and I had gotten together over another lunch and continuous texting, to put together a training schedule for his little brother. They were busy Tuesday's and Thursday's after school and I was mostly free whenever.

Whenever my sisters and I went fighting it's usually a last minute decison but it's always after 8 o'clock.

In the end, we decided on every Wednesday and Friday right after school, until 5 or so and then as the trainee gets better, we'll have longer training sessions and more days.

It was currently Wednesday and the plan was to meet Kyle by his car after school and he'll follow me home so he knows where it is, and then go pick up his brother and then come back.

I'm feeling skeptical about letting someone I barely knew into my home but when I told my sister's, they were ecstatic that I was socializing with people.

The bell finally rang and I rushed out of the classroom, shoving things into my bag as I walked. I pushed my way past people in the hall and burst through the doors. I raced down the steps and over to Kyle's car, which was conveniently parked a few spaces away from my motorcycle.

I whipped out my phone and sent him a quick text as the rest of the student body started flooding out of the school.

me: k, i'm here, hurry

Within moments, Kyle appeared by my side, ready to go. He loaded his stuff into his car as I got my bike warmed up and my backpack strapped on.

"Alright, lead the way," he told me, as he sat into his car, making it rock slightly with his weight. I revved my engine and pulled out of my parking space, watching for the other cars also trying to leave.

We were finally able to get out of the parking lot and started down the road. I was extremely nervous about later and debated on leading Kyle to the wrong place. I've never honestly had anyone besides my sisters seen my home, but they don't count because I like with them.

What if he decides to make fun of my run down apartment? Or asks a lot of questions about my parents?

After my internal debate I decided it would probably be better to lead him to my actual home, he is paying me for this anyways.

We wound our way through through several different streets and turns until we finally pulled up to mine and my sisters' house.

I stopped in the driveway as Kyle's car pulled up to the curb. He got out of the car and started making his way towards me.

He stared at the house as if it was a mansion, which I assure you, it is not.

Slightly embarrased by my living condtions, compared to what he probably has, I immediatly started explaing myself.

"Sorry, I know it's not much, but it has everything we need, and it's all we can afford and it's also-"

"I love it!" Kyle exclaimed, beaming up at the house. I gave him a look mixed with confusion and pure shock."

"W-What?" I asked. I would never have though of this structure in front of us as something somebody would love. Heck, we didn't even love it and we lived in it.

"I love it!" he repeated. "Look at the paint chipping, and the cute little fence, and the flowers sprouting, and the trim around the door, and the matted down grass. There's a stain on the window and shingles falling off. It looks lived in, it has character."
