Arriving in New York, they met Ashton. And this was the first time Ash was meeting Reece's children. Ashton picked up Charlotte and grinned at her tiny face, "hey Charlotte, I'm your Uncle Ash."
Reece rolled his eyes, making Luke giggle as he shifted Mason in his arms: "it's got a ring to it."
Reece laughed, "don't give him any ideas, he's gonna want his own kids one day."
"Oh dear," Ashton said, "because I'd be such a bad father."
"Well—"
"Don't answer that Reece." Ashton said.
They got in to a car with their luggage and drove in to the city streets of New York. Luke looked out the window at the large buildings, he held Mason's hand softly, "Baby look." Luke said, pointing out at the bright lights and tall buildings. "This is gonna be home for a while." Luke told him, looking down at Mason's wide eyes. Luke smiled, "it's cool isn't it."
Luke turned to Reece when he touched Luke's thigh, "we'll be find here." Reece said.
Luke nodded nervously, "I know."
Ashton turned around in the front seats, "there's no way of anyone knowing you're here unless someone from our side tells them, and we all hate them."
Luke sighed, "Are you sure?" He glanced at Charlotte who sat on Reece's lap, staring out the window. "I need to protect my kids, I don't want them caught in a crossfire of guns and war."
"That won't happen." Ashton said, "everyone knows the kids are coming and they're the priority."
Luke nodded again, "okay then."
Reece took Luke's hand in his and kissed his knuckles, "we have a plan for every place remember?"
"I know." Luke said, before holding Mason closer, kissing his head. "I know."
They arrived at the bunker, which was underneath a hotel in downtown New York. They had to go through large steel doors to get in to the building that only few people knew the code of, they had armed men at the entrance.
The car stopped and the door was opened for Luke, the blond still holding Mason. The toddler leant his head against Luke's shoulder, making Luke smile to himself. Reece walked around the car to the blond, holding on to Charlotte's hand as she walked. Reece grabbed on to Luke's free hand, "you okay?" Reece asked, seeing Luke looking around at everyone, lingering on the assault rifles they had.
Luke nodded, "just nervous."
Ashton then lead them through another door in to a corridor, "I'll show you to your room, and your stuff will be taken there, there's a kids room connected to yours with a bunch of toys and other things for them. I tried to make it as home-y as possible." Ashton explained.
