"Crap I totally forgot!" Kora whispered. She looked down the historical isle and at the very end, she smiled when she found the book, when she reached for it another hand reached around the corner, and grabbed the book. "Um? That's my book" Kora said

"Really?" A boy with dark brown hair appeared in front of her holding the book. "I don't think you own all the books in this place" he smirked.

"No, but I saw it first" Kora tried reaching for the book but he just switched hands behind his back. She tried again and he switched back, and raised it above his head. Being much taller than Kora she gave up, "Fine have it I'll find another" she turned on the heel of her converse and walked away.

"Wait!" He jogged back up to her. "Why do you want it so bad?"

"Well for your information I need it for a school project that is due tomorrow" Kora bent down skimming the spines of the books.

"Why didn't you start earlier?" He kept following her down the aisle. "That's the smart idea"

"I forgot" she turned back to him and they were chest to chest. "Um, sorry." They said in unison. Kora walked up to the desk where a girl about the same age as her, her name tag read Asia. The boy followed her up to the desk. "Hi do you have anymore books relating to the Egyptian Gods?" Kora leaned over the counter.

"Um, just one The Gods of Egypt: An information textbook. By Daniel Coffman." Kora turned around to look at the book in the boys hand. It was the only book in the bookstore. "We have Cleopatra book?" The girl reassures

"Really?! Ok I'll take that!" Kora was filled with relief

"No we don't it was bought earlier today" Kora let out a sigh. Kora slumped back into a love seat and sighed, how was she supposed to finish an entire project by tonight?

"Hey sorry" the boy sat next to her, "I'm Anthony Laurence" he held out his hand for Kora to shake. She turned around and met with his brillant green eyes, and Anthony gaped at her honey ones.

Kora shook his hand "Kora Washington" she smiled and twirled her hair, black with bright red strips, she coughed and pushed up her black glasses. "Well I still need my book" Kora grabbed her bag and got up from the seat.

"Its not your book I bought it" Anthony follow Kora out. "So if you ask nicely I might give it to you, with a little kids on the side."

Kora stopped on the sidewalk "might give it to me, you took it from me, and I wouldn't kiss you for a millions of dollars, so if you'll excuse me I'm going to the public library to find a book to help with my research" Kora adjusted her purse and walked to her car.

"Look Kora I'm sorry, I'm new in Lise County, and I thought girls here would be-"

"Easy? News flash there are a lot but not me"

"No, that wasn't the right way to say it" he groaned and slid against a car, "I won't let you get in."

"Good cause that's not my car" Kora walked to the next car over, a blue convertible.

He ran over and shut the door as Kora was opening it. "I'm sorry, I'll treat you to icecream?"

Kora thought for a second. "Ok Anthony..." Kora slowly shut her car door.

"Andy, and it's my pleasure, it's not everyday you get to take a book thief out to icecream." He chuckled and we started down the block to Yolandas Frozen Yogurt.

"It was my book" Kora said sitting down with her icecream. They ate and debated whos book it was. After they threw away their trash they made their way back to the bookstore. "Yep well this was fun, I'll be making my way to find a book to replace the one you stole." Kora opens her car.

"Well if you want" Andy pinned Kora against her car. "We could discuss why it's my book, or your book at some other time." Andy leaned in, Kora quickly got in her car. "How about this I'll call you, what's your number?"

"1-800- never-going-to-happen" Kora reversed and drive out of the parking lot. That was too close she thought. Kora looked back at Andy he was racing to his car. She drove out to her parents house quickly. When she got out and into the house her mom was making cookies and singing to 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' and Kora was fearful for my life, her mother bless her heart cannot cook. Her dad always did the cooking, he died the week after she left for college of a heart attack.

"How was the bookstore babe?" Her Mom asked

"Good, mom thats not sugar, it's salt" she kissed her and grabbed an apple.

"Oh, gosh darnit! I've made 4 dozen of these cookies with this- this salt" she turned around and there were cookies piled up on the island. "I'm sorry babe, I wanted you to have something to take home" she hugged her mom and sat in the living room, when Verona her little sister came running in the living room,

"Kora! Kora!" She ran in and jumped on her lap "ok Becca from school she kissed Xavier! On the mouth!" Kora and Verona made gasping noises "And she is dating Louis" they made nosies again. Soon Kora's mom brought home Sonic and they all ate. Kora heard a knock on the door. She answered it, it was Andy.

"Andy how did you find out where I lived?"

He breathed in and out really heavy and pushed out "Sorry I live down the street and I saw- Your convertible, I really hoped it was you" he bent down "Wow I need to work on my cardio."

"Look Andy I-"

He quickly shushed her "Let me talk Kora your the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, and I really like you" he stood there like a goof

"Andy I'm leaving..." my mother asked me to move so she could put my suitcase in my car. "This was my last day in town, I'm sorry"

"Kora? What do you mean?" He followed Kora to her car.

"Look Andy..." Kora out her hand on his chest "I can't do a boyfriend in in college and I want to stay in college a boyfriend is too much stress, especially if you go to UCLA."

"Please stay" he pleaded

"No I have a once and a lifetime opportunity waiting for me, and I have to finish, maybe one day you'll know me as Doctor Washington?" Kora opened her door, Andy tried to talk again "Goodbye Anthony Laurence" Kora drove off and left Anthony standing there. His first real rejection at 19.

Anthony went off to become a mechanic, and every Saturday he sits in the bookstore hoping that Kora will show up again. Soon he forgot about Kora, and fell in love with Asia, and is now engaged to her.

Kora finished out 8 long years at UCLA and is now Dr. Washington. Kora is on her way back to Lise County for her sisters 13th birthday, and Andy is getting ready for the wedding of the year with Asia.

Kora sat in the old bookstore again soaking in 8 long years of missed saturdays. She heard the bell of door and turned around. Andy walked in, her breath held in her throat and she hurried off into the many isles of books. She saw a familiar book, she reached out and Andy's hand swooped around the corner. "Kora?" He said breathless
