As I walked downstairs the next morning, Stefan caught up next to me. "Do you know where Elena is?"
"Nope, and I really don't care," I told him as we got downstairs. I saw Andie. "Hey."
"Hey," Andie said.
"Have you seen Elena?" Stefan asked.
"Uh, no," Andie answered.
Damon stood in front of her. "Hi, sweetie. Oh, my coffee."
He kissed her.
"Good morning," Andie told him.
"Mm, good morning," Damon said.
"Hey, where's Elena?" Stefan asked.
"I don't know, Stefan. It's your girlfriend. Mine's right here." He looked at Andie. "Oh, and how's the shoulder? Got time for a bite? I'm so hungry."
"Oh, it's really messy," Andie told him. "Can you just use a blood bag today?" I rolled my eyes at the mushiness, Stefan calling Elena. "I'm already late for work."
"No!" Damon complained, pouting.
Stefan left a message for Elena. "Hey, it's me. Where are you? Call me." He hung up, looking at Damon and Andie, who were kissing. "What are you doing? She's not a wind-up toy."
Andie looked at him. "It's really none of your business, is it, Stefan?"
"Yeah," Damon said. "What she said."
"I have to go to work."
Andie kissed Damon, who compalined, "Ugh! Bye."
She left.
I looked down the hall, seeing that the basement door was open. I rushed over to it, Damon and Stefan following me to the basement.
I got to the cell and saw that Elijah wasn't here.
And Elena was M.I.A. all freaking day.
Elena brought him back.
When Damon and Stefan stood behind me, I said, "No, she didn't."
Upstairs again, Stefan called Elena. "Where are you? Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine."
"Where's Elijah?"
"He's right here."
"Where? I'm on my way."
"No, Stefan. Elijah and I need some time alone."
"Listen to me. He can't be trusted. He'll use you to get to Klaus."
"Elijah is a noble man, Stefan. He lives by a code of honor. I can trust him. He knows that I'd be incredibly stupid to betray him again. By removing the dagger, I have proven myself."
"You can't do this alone."
"It's my decision, Stefan. Please respect it. And make sure that Damon and Kaylin don't do anything stupid. I'll be in touch."
Make sure we didn't do anything stupid?
What did she think she was doing right now?!
We didn't hear anything else from Elena.
"Did she just hang up on you?" I asked.
"She did," Stefan answered.
"She's lost it," I said.
