A Single Rose
Chapter 1
A bright cheerful light gleams through my dim white curtains towards my bed directly on my face heating up the surface of my skin.

I yawn while sitting up to stretch my muscles out. I throw my duvet off my small framed body and walk over to my curtains pushing them both to the side as a bright yellow ambience lights up my room.

My lips tug up from a thin line to a tired smile. I walk over towards my bedroom door and open it turning my head both ways inspecting my surroundings.

Normally by this time my 5 year old brother and 11 year old sister are screaming like hooligans while shooting me with their nerf guns as the small little foam pellets cascade down towards the wood flooring.

I rub the tiredness away from my eyes and walk over to a closet that my family keeps the towels, wash rags, bath bombs, shower gels, and swim accessories in.

I open the door and pick up a light pastel pink towel that has the word pink etched on to it. If you are wondering, I got it last year when I went to Victoria Secret for the first time since my mom and dad got me a $25 gift card.

I then rummage through a bin that has our wash rags in it and find a plain gray one. I close the door with my foot and walk back into my room towards my bathroom.

I swing the door open and place my towel and wash rag down on the toilet seat then head back into my room towards my closet.

I fling the door open and my eyes immediately light up as soon as I see all my pastel, cute, and girly like clothes. If you can't tell I'm a girly girl for sure and one thing I know a ton about is, fashion.
One time my 20 year cousin Dana bought me a sewing machine for Christmas, it was the best gift I had ever gotten.

I remember later that night she came into my room and told me that she got it for me because she was entering a modeling contest soon and would need a few outfits to wow the judges with so she could win.

She told me that my fashion sense was her favorite and that she wanted me to design her outfits that she would wear at the competition.

I was so excited but also nervous because they had to be perfect and I was afraid I would mess up along the way. But I eventually made it through with breathtakingly, jaw dropping, elegant outfits that she adored and even better, she won!
She's now one of the biggest models today and everyone in my town knows her.

Heck everyone across the globe knows who she is by now or at the very least, have heard her name before.

I step into my closet shifting a few of my hangers with clothes dangling off of them. I shuffle through them until I find an outfit that I've been waiting up until this day to wear.

You see, today is the last day of school. For me it is the last day of 10th grade. I'm really excited for summer because I could really use a 3 month break from school but I'm also really upset because I'll miss a lot of my friends.

I will be able to hangout with some of them of course but most of them are going to be going on vacation for the whole time or are moving to another state.

My eyes start to tear up thinking about how I will miss them but before my tears spill, I clear the thoughts from my mind and grab my outfit closing my closet door.

I walk over to my bathroom again and close the door behind me. I turn on the hot water in the shower and strip myself from my previous sweaty pajamas.

I hop in the shower and lather my long black hair in pink strawberry scented shampoo and conditioner. After I'm done washing myself and my hair I take my razor and shave my legs and underarms.

Once I'm all done I turn the water off and grab my towel and start drying my long hair. I wrap my bow damp towel around my body and climb out of the shower waking over to my toilet.

I pick up my clothes quickly getting dressed. Then I get on my knees and open up a small cabinet that's located under my sink. I grab my small gray hair dryer and plug it into the wall feeling the calm comfortable heat on my face and neck.

Once my hair is dry I brush through the mess of tangles grabbing a pink hair tie and pulling my hair up into a high pony tail.

I put the hair dryer back in the cabinet and grab a handful of my makeup products. Don't worry I don't wear a ton of makeup to school really the only stuff that I wear is mascara, fake eyelashes, concealer, blush, and lip balm.

I put all of that away and grab my toothbrush swiftly brushing my teeth then picking up my pajamas and towel while carrying hem back into my bedroom.

I place them on the floor while I make my bed. I grab the towel and clothes and make my way down the stairs to the first floor to our laundry room where our washer/dryer is.

I throw my clothes in the hamper and make my way back upstairs. I grab a couple bracelets and this necklace that my grandmother gave to me for my 12th birthday before she passed away that says, angel.

I've practically worn it every single day since she passed. I feel like it makes her happy and it's a respectful thing to do considering the current circumstances.

Once I get back to my room I slip on my white high heels and grab my phone along with my bag and earphones.

I plug my earphones into my phone as the song, heart break girl by 5sos starts to play
(If you can't tell already, they are my fav band🤤💛).

I close my bedroom behind me as I start to make my way down the stairs. Once I reach the kitchen I notice my father already sitting at the dinner table sipping his morning coffee with the newspaper in his hand.

I smile lightly at him and look over to my mom who has her back turned to me and is flipping pancakes in a pan at the stove.

I softly make my way into the kitchen sitting down quietly at the table. "Good morning mom, morning dad" I say smiling at them.

My mom turns around smiling happily at me while my dad looks up from his newspaper and smiles a sheepish smile at me causing me to giggle softly.

"How did you sleep kiddo?" My dad asks causing me to roll my eyes and him to chuckle at my reaction.

My dad this it's really cute for some reason to call me kiddo every morning yet I'm not a kid because I'm 16.

He knows I hate that stupid nick name but none the less, he still calls me it every morning.

"Ehh I slept okay. So, what's for breakfast?" I ask smiling over to my beautiful mother.

"Pancakes, bacon, toast, and your favorite, orange juice." My mother says sitting the plate in front of me smiling.

"Wow mom thank you!" I say a little too happy earning a soft laugh from my mother.

"You're welcome dear" she says kissing the top of my head turning back around to clean all of dishes she used this morning.
