1. Downpour

As he set out for his day, he didn't realise the clouds forming above him until he was "greeted" by his mother.

"Get your lazy ass good for nothing ass in here!" She shouted.

He ignored her and slipped out the door avoiding cracks and creeks. The cloud began to grow as he walked to school. Seeing the happy faces of small school children trot to school while holding their mothers hands, he thought how do their hands fit? The clouds got darker.

Arriving at the gates, along with the rest of the school he disregarded any acknowledgment of a good morning from a teacher and scurried away with his head bowed down. His long dark greasy hair dangled in his eyes which concealed his vision. In the midst of scurrying away he bumped into someone. Possibly a couple years younger but not much attention was paid and without a sorry he carried on into the warmth of the building.

As soon as he got into the classroom, which was before the first bell, he slumped down in his chair and got his earphones out to distract him from his thoughts. Clouds began to release small droplets.

When the first bell arrived, his earphones were stuffed back in his old tattered bag before the teacher could take it away. He needed them. The earphones were quickly replaced with his English book and a copy of Macbeth. He sat silently the whole lesson but was genuinely interested in the great work of Shakespeare.

As soon as that lesson finished another began and so on until lunch.

The rain had begun to pick up when he arrived at the library. The only quiet place in this damn school. But as he wandered his way over to his usual spot in the corner where there was no camera glaring down, he noticed someone was already there. A boy.

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning appeared in the sky followed by crackling thunder!

He stormed over to the random boy sitting in his spot and stared down upon him.

"Can I help you?" The intimidated but confident boy asked.

"This is where I sit." He answered sternly.

"That's a shame, maybe you can go find somewhere else to sit today?" The boy carried on being sarcastic but less intimidated.

With a defeated grunt he turned around and tried to find somewhere else to sit, hopefully just for today. After a while of pacing around he nuzzled down into a new spot contently but still annoyed.

The storm had stopped but it was still chucking it down with rain. Drenching anyone under it.

Lunch went fast and he wasn't bothered by that boy again. Apart from on the way out, while being distracted by his music quickly strolled to the library door just as the boy was also. This created a collision just like a car crash. He tumbled to the floor, hitting he head rather had on the wood flooring and the boy fell onto of him, also hitting his head but not on the floor on him instead.  The school librarian rushed over calling to see if they were okay. She strictly sent us to the nurses office even though they both insisted it was unnecessary.

He noticed on the way to the nurse that the wind had started going mad along with the downpour.

During the slow walk to the nurse, they got into a conversation.

"Sorry I took you seat and I'm sorry I knocked you over and I'm sorry I fell on top of you and I'm sorry we have to go to the nurses office and I'm also sorry I bumped into you this morning a-" He cut the boy off.

"Shut up, geez, it was my fault too anyway." He said as the wind roared.

"Okay, it's just I'm a bit upset and I've probably been taking it out on you without realising." The boy carried on talking even though it wasn't needed.

"I don't care" he said "I'm used to it" he carried on.

Silence fell. Luckily, they had just arrived at the nurses office. She checked them over and confirmed that they were both fine apart from maybe bruises on the knees. She sent them straight back to class.

"Hey, what's your name?" The now annoying boy asked.

"Gerard." He said sharply and quickly before turning and walking away from the boy into the toilets.

"Oh okay, I'm Frank," The boy said loudly while being left, "if you were interested." He finished just ask Gerard had entered the loo.

The storm had reached its peak. Thunder was sounding and lightening was blazing. Wind was roaring and rain was thrashing. Gerard had enough and locked himself in a stall for the rest of the school day.

But in that toilet stall lonely and miserable, when Gerard thought about Frank the storm calmed for a few seconds before continuing harder then it had been. He wondered why?
