After Gerard's rest in the toilet, he decided it was time to head home. He concluded that since the last bell of the school day had gone at least 20 minutes ago he could escape without many people seeing his destroyed and smudged eyeliner. He unlocked the door and slid out into the corridor and headed straight for the door. Thankfully, he was correct and no one was around apart from the noise of heels speedily running passed Gerard without even a first glance at him.

He exited the school ground and brought out a cigarette and lighter from his front pocket on his blazer. He took the cigarette slowly to his mouth with shaky hands and had a long draw of breath. The nasty chemicals drifted down his trachea into his lungs and filled him with warmth but infecting him with disease. He didn't care anyway. The smoke trailed out his nose and mouth gently creating an aroma of angsty teen around him.

Gerard whimsically wandered back to his house. Carefully, putting out the cigarette a block before his house as to leave no sign of smoking for his mother to see. As he approached it, he could see eyes staring harshly out the front window poking through the dirty net curtains. It was his mother.

"GERARD!" His mother yelled as the door was pulled open.

He couldn't run now she had already seen him. He picked up his speed as to not take too long, it would just make her angrier.

"HOW DARE YOU!" She screamed, "I GOT A PHONE CALL SAYING YOU DISAPPEARED FROM SCHOOL!"

"I didn't disappear," Gerard tries to respond, "Someone knocked me over and I ha-" He was rudely interrupted.

"I DONT WANT TO HEAR YOUR EXCUSES GERARD!" His mother stepped closer to him.

Even though he was taller, he felt like he was smaller.

"Is that smoke I smell?" She was suspicious.

Before he could answer his mother grabbed him by the collar and pushed him against the stained walls.

"I can't believe you, you're a filthy, ungrateful and stupid boy!" She got right into his face almost touching with spit flying out her mouth.

Bravely, Gerard talked back, " Well," He said, "I know where I get it from."

He stared her in the eyes as they began glowing red with fury.

All in a moment, she dropped Gerard on the floor and thrusted her foot straight into his quivering face.

Gerard sat there in disbelief.

She turned round and stomped up the stairs leaving Gerard laying on the floor in fear with a bleeding nose. As quickly as he could he jumped up and sprinted out the door with involuntary tears streaming down he bloody face.

The storm had stopped while Gerard was walking home from school, which was lucky for him, but had suddenly came heaving itself down right as he left.

Gerard followed alleys and small pathways all the way to the park. It got darker and darker and colder and colder on his way there. So cold that the rain from the storm had changed to snow but it wasn't settling.

He reached the now abandoned park, apart from some creepy twenty year olds in the bushes doing weed. He went and plonked himself on a bench. The freezing cold metal ran through his clothes touching his skin and floating up his back creating goosebumps on his skin.

After he sat there for a while gazing into the dulling sky with the wet snow still not settling on the floor, a group of older guys bashed their was into the park. Gerard recognised one of them but he couldn't remember where from. The one he recognised wasn't like the rest he was smaller with dark hair and was being pushed around a bit.

On second thought, this kid wasn't one of the others.  He started getting hit a bit and pushed harder finally hitting onto the stone hard concrete ground.

In a moment of heroic power, Gerard marched over the the group who he now realised are his age and go to his school.

"What are you doing!?" Gerard shouted leaning forward into one of their faces.

"Leave us alone, man!" One replied.

"Who even are you?" Another chorused in, "Oh wait, I know you, your that weird kid at school."

"You're right! The one that always has his greasy hair covering his eyes and his clothes are always dirty and gross!" They all laughed and pointed at Gerard, while the boy Gerard now realised was the guy, called Frank, from earlier picked himself up off the ground.

"Why are you even bothered about what we're doing?, is he your boyfriend?" They questioned and roared in laughter again leaving Gerard feeling embarrassed and regretting his decisions.

"No he's not actually!" Gerard plucked up some courage, "Why? Would you like to be my boyfriend? Because if so I'm sorry you're not my type." Gerard turned away feeling full of energy and proud of his fierce comeback.

The group of boys obviously repulsed by the thought of anything gay all started shouting obscene things at Gerard as he strutted away without taking any notice of them. A small smirk crept on his face.

Suddenly, he heard a voice running after him.

"Gerard! Gerard!" It called, " wait for me!" It was Frank and this made Gerard's eyes roll.

Why can't he just leave me alone? Gerard thought.
