Firewood: Remember Me

Chapter 5

Serena did nothing but sit in her bedroom window sill, staring off into the front of her yard where cars would pass every minute. Her parents were concerned as she would only get up to get water. That was only a few times in the day. She was staring when she heard a knock on the door. Behind her, Rowan, Marley, and Molly walked in. Rowan had a box in her hand.
"Are you alright?" Rowan asked.
Serena looked up at them with a dead stare on her face. She then looked back outside towards her front yard.
"You need to talk at some point," Rowan told her. "What happened to Melissa is devastating. But you should talk to somebody about it,"
"We brought you a cake," Molly said.
"Just something small," Marley said, smiling.
Rowan set it down on her vanity, she looked at herself in the mirror then saw a photo in a frame of Melissa and Serena smiling.
"When's her funeral?" Rowan asked.
"I'm not sure," Serena told them, looking down at her hands. "I don't know if I can even go,"
"I'll go with if you need me to," Rowan told her.
"I just don't know about all this anymore," Serena told them. "Melissa was my best friend,"
"I know she was," Molly said. "We're your best friends too,"
"Yeah, my other ones are fake," Serena said.
"Listen," Marley said. "I don't know where Ali and them are but I know they'll see you soon. Trust me. I'm a phone call away if you need anything,"
Serena nodded and looked down, then back to staring out the window.
"Is this how it's going to be?" Molly whispered to Marley.
"I don't know," Rowan whispered back. "We should go,"
Serena could hear them talking and was tearing up. She had nobody. She did. But she let like she had nobody. It was an odd feeling.
"I just don't feel real," Serena said. "My body's here on Earth but I'm floating. That's what it feels like,"
The three gave her a hug then soon left. Serena was back to her usual, staring out the window with her parents trying hard to get her to go out with them or go downstairs.

Many miles away, Alison, Anne, Roman, and KT all had arrived in an eerie, eerie forest.
"This is it," Roman said. "Don't say anything stupid. Please. Also,"
Roman then grabbed something from his pocket and put Alison's hair up into a bun, also Anne's.
They then followed him and then it had appeared. A huge mansion, guarded at the door by two people. Alison looked around and saw a girl with long, luscious brown hair walking very fast in the woods, but not saying anything, she just ignored it. Must have been a vampire. They were everywhere.
"Who might you be?" The guard asked Roman.
"I am here to help find Spencer Hasting," Roman said.
The two guards looked at each other and nodded.
"Right away, follow me," the other guard said.
The other guard led them inside, the entrance was a large hallway with many rooms. It was quiet.
"Where is the council?" KT asked.
They led them to a room where a group of vampires were sitting, they all turned to look.
"Arcturus," Roman smiled. "Long time, no see,"
"Hello Roman," he said. "How are you?"
Alison then saw Vanessa sitting by her father, who must have been Arcturus. She made a coughing noise so her father's focus would be on Alison, Anne, and KT.
"Who might your friends be?" a woman vampire named Destiny asked.
"This is Kara Tatiana," he said. "There are also our human friends,"
"Human," Vanessa said, as all the vampires gasped.
"How intriguing," Pluto, another vampire said.
"We're here to find Spencer," Alison said, loudly with confidence.
"Spencer Hasting?" Vanessa asked, laughing.
"What?" KT asked. "What's so funny?"
"Let's see where he is now, shall we," Arcturus said, holding out his hand.
They all then immediately saw Spencer and Judine together with Serenity. They were in thick woods.
"They have a child," Vanessa said. "Isn't she human?"
"Yes," Pluto said. "But we do have other things to discuss. That girl. She is indeed human?"
"My great granddaughter," Vanessa said. "Yes, they're all human. They have a half-vampire child,"
Alison froze. That was her great grandmother.
"We can capture them for you," KT said.
"You're sure of that?" Arcturus asked.
"That's why we came," Roman said. "I wanted to help you all,"
Vanessa looked at her father and smiled, "Dad. This might be the perfect opportunity. If we get Judine then we can find Alison DuBois and her sisters. It's perfect,"
Arcturus nodded and walked over to Roman. He then whispered something to him for a moment. Alison looked at Arcturus and then at Vanessa who was smiling very evilly.
"I won't let you down, sir," Roman told him.
They all then left the room and soon the building. In the forest, Alison stopped Roman.
"What did he tell you?" she asked.
"If I don't return with them, I'm done for," he said. "They're wanted fugitives. I volunteered us into this bullshit,"
"You're not alone with this," KT said. "It's all of us versus them,"
"What's the plan, anyways?" Anne asked.
"We take them here," Roman told them.
Alison then gasped and backed away from Roman.
"I will never let you do that to my own family," she said, with a strict voice. "We made a deal. We're going to save them,"
"Alright," Roman said. "We find them and put them on a plane as far away from here as possible,"
"The safest place would be Italy," KT said. "There's a vampire tribe there but the Vampire Council does not govern that part of the world,"
The four then set off to where Spencer and Judine were. They were off in a forest - not too far. Judine picked up Serenity and smiled.
"I love you," Judine smiled.
"We have company coming," Spencer said. "I can smell vampires,"
"It's okay, hun," she said. "We just need to protect Serenity. I need to call Alison though,"
"No," Spencer said. "She can't know where we are,"

Back at The Voltri's meeting, Vanessa was discussing Spencer's punishment when the large oak doors slammed open. Everyone looked to see a girl in a jean jacket. It was Bianca Reynolds.
"I have news," she said.
"What is it, Miss?" Vanessa asked.
"It's about the wanted vampires," she told them. "Serenity is Judine and Spencer's child. They had a child together. Her sister was just here to make amends. They're not going to bring them to you. I know Alison,"
The Voltri all stood up. Vanessa walked down from her chair and over to Bianca.
"We must do what must be done," Vanessa told them. "It leads us no choice to kill Alison and her family"
