Dan Howell was in the shower the day his world was flipped around, well, it was never the right side up to begin with. After all, nineteen year old's fighting wars wasn't necessarily a normal thing, and neither were nation wide rebellions causing the whole of the UK to be completely cut off from the rest of the world. Rebellions nobody could remember the reason for.

It wasn't like they'd been going on for centuries, in fact, they'd started roughly twenty-four years ago, just days after his older brother, Alex, was born, and five years before he himself was born. The rebellions caused the whole of Great Britain, once a proud united kingdom, to split into two sides; the Government, or the Rebellion. Dan of course, was on the side of the Government, how could he not be? His father was Prime Minister after all. Twelve years after the initial rebellion, Dan's brother was murdered by Rebel spies, causing uproar within the Government's followers for the death of those responsible for the twelve year old's ruthless and untimely death. The spies responsible were caught, and executed for their crimes.

When Dan turned ten, two years after his brother's death, he joined a junior training program to further his knowledge of battle, by fifteen he was planning and executing battles. And winning. By the age of sixteen he had already won four battles and successfully engineered two undercover missions for his father. And now, at a mere nineteen years of age he had become the youngest commander to date, and had many accomplishments upon the battlefield. He was hailed a hero among the Government and their followers, labelled a danger to the Rebels. He'd kidnapped and killed more times than he could remember.

So, it could be said that Dan's life had gone through many twists and turns, but it was this night that was to be the most important turn of his short life; the first domino to fall. This was the night, he was captured by the Rebels.

It was a normal night at Base 60.04, Dan had called Carrie back at home to keep her, Louise and Zoe up to date on the current mission; he was monitoring rebel activity on the northern outskirts of London, the Government's prime settlement. After that, he'd ate tea with PJ and discussed PJ's new earrings which allowed a person to hear things more clearly when activated. Dan himself had found them more than handy when on covert missions for his father. PJ wasn't the best of company, the flashing collar on his neck was distracting, but necessary if they wanted him to keep building weapons for the government. After tea, he'd made his goodbyes to PJ and escaped to his private quarters; as the Prime Minister's son, he was entitled to certain 'perks' as some may say.

He'd gone over the schedule for tomorrow (as usual), replied to his mother's email (as usual), entered his diary log for the day (uneventful, as usual), and then taken a shower (as usual).

Dan sighed as he entered his private bathroom, cracking his neck as he did so with a satisfying pop. He turned on the shower, not noticing that the water didn't immediately spill from the shower head. He allowed the water to heat up as he stripped, taking care of the bandage around his left bicep, covering what remained of a nasty little slice caused by a surprise attack by a rebel troop on his last patrol. He was lucky, his partner barely made it out with his eyes still in his skull. He assessed himself in the large mirror above his sink; his hair, once short, was beginning to grow a little over his ears, the making of a fringe flopped pathetically over his forehead. The earrings PJ had made stood out against his skin, though he had never really been pale. His eyes glared back at him through the mirror, a hard brown surrounded by dark circles due to lack of sleep, creases on his forehead gave him a permanently angry look. He tried to stop frowning, but the attempt was useless as he caught sight of the scars - big and small - that covered his toned body. After a few minutes of assessing the many scars littered all over his chest and what he could see of his back, he stepped into the shower, immediately relaxing into the hot steam. The drops pounding onto his back soothed his sore muscles as his head began to clear. He felt the creases on his forehead loosen as the days events were washed away with the water. Dan liked showers, he liked to imagine the water washing away all of his problems, tugging them down the drain and into oblivion where they belonged, but alas, that was not the case. Before long, Dan began to feel like something was wrong, the water smelled weird, and he'd never felt this lightheaded from a shower before. The ringing in his ears made it hard for him to even hear the sound of the water hitting the tiled floor off the shower.

Dan stumbled from the shower, not bothering to turn it off, and grabbed the gun he'd left on top of his pile of clothes. He quickly - and as silently as he could - pulled on a pair of clean underpants from the draw under the sink and approached the closed bathroom door. Something was terribly wrong. His vision swam as he approached the door, the ringing in his ears getting louder and louder with every breath he took. He needed to get out of the bathroom. Suddenly filled with a sense of desperation, he lunged for the door, his hands stumbling with the handle as Dan tried to figure out which hand was real. He swayed as he managed to pull the door open, the momentum almost causing him to topple over, instead he dropped his trusty gun and grabbed onto the door frame, steadying himself before he could fall onto his arse. Getting in the shower was his first mistake, dropping the gun was his second, as he stared at the four, no, two people in front of him.

"Hello." the girl said, though it was barely distinguishable with all of the damn ringing. "Be a dear and catch him, Alfie."

And then Dan collapsed.

Hey so I guess this is my new story. It's kinda rocky since I just got back into writing so please let me know if there are any mistakes. This story will be quite dark given that it is a sort of dystopian AU. It is basically one big mess of youtubers, however, the two main characters are of course Dan and Phil (Danisnotonfire and AmazingPhil).

WARNINGS! (Important, if you have any TRIGGERS then please read.)

-Fighting

-Swearing

-Character Death

-Mentions of past abuse (no major details)

-Tiny bit of torture (I suppose, not really all that bad)

Warnings will be again added to relevant chapters.

Disclaimers: Phan is not real (no matter how much we all wish it was), and I dont own anyone of these people mentioned that you may recognise (thats illegal). Dan does have a brother, but I have made up my own name for him for privacy reasons. Any other family members' names will also be made up. Is it even worth mentioning that none of this is real? Cause, seriously, none of it is real.
