A jellyfish
luminescent and dormant, pulsating along ocean currents
inside a kaleidoscope of bell-shaped bodies:
the ocean invader, 'Turritopsis
dohrnii' oscillates
the depths of the mediterranean,
'keenly aware of the terrors and horrors of existence.'Tentacles thick
with 'syringe-like nematocysts' in pursuit of Odysseus
and the opaque opportunistic tradition
of destructive 'cultural bloom.' Thirsting
for sovereignty
over natural resources, a
tempest drives the polychromatic phalanx toward consumption.Invertebrate
the variegated river of pinks, blues, and yellows join the
convoluted fantasy built upon spires
and mountains, the 'shining fantasy of
the Olympians'
ravaged by hallucinating prophets,
completing a circle 'pre-empted by their ancestors' andforged with iron.
Tribulation dehydrates the abstract veins of constellations,
reconstructing the fleeting generosity
of immortal gods who fell prey to the
sun chariot's
infatuation with transience.
'Immune to the force of gravity,' Aphrodite's essenceensnares mankind,
'so the lover must struggle for words' that hold a delirious
potency mutilated by language, soiled
with emotion beyond comprehension.
And love too, will bring
us to ruin, the entrancing dance
that flourishes despite the plenitude of self-suffering.
