I awake with the sunlight hitting my eyes. I open them gradually trying to filter the light through my eyelashes so it doesn't blind me. I turn around to check if Luke’s still next to me, but he’s not. The bathroom door is open and the lights are off, he’s not in there either. Did he leave me? No, his bag is resting on the chair in the corner of the room.

I sit up rubbing the sleep from my eyes but it’s too cold to get up, so I curl into a ball under the covers to prevent the warmth of my body from abandoning me.

A few minutes pass by before the doorknob is turned. The door opens very slowly, whining. I glance up to Luke’s eyes which are almost shut and his teeth are clenched; he's clearly trying not to make any noise. That makes me snicker quietly making him find my open eyes, he shakes his head and chuckles. I can see his cheeks reddening. He looks cute.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were awake?” He keeps smiling and I shrug my shoulders smiling back. “Well I brought you something for breakfast,” he displays everything he’s laid out on the table beside the T.V. “He didn’t have much really, but I brought you coffee, a bagel and an apple.” It came out more as a question and I smiled at him in thanks.

“It’s fine, I like everything,” I reply, still tucked under the bed covers.

I manage to take one hand out and stretch it to Luke in order to ask him to bring breakfast to bed. Rolling his eyes he obliged. I sit up and goose pimples cover my arms all of a sudden, so I hug myself rubbing them quickly. Noticing, Luke finds my hoody and hands it to me, right after placing the food in my lap.

“Thanks.” I pull it up my arms and zip it up.

He sits on the edge of the bed next to me with his own breakfast. When he takes a sip from his cup of coffee I see him crack a smile and I find myself intrigued by the possible reasons.

“Did something funny happen?” He glances at me amused to find a smile on my face.

“I like your cuddles,” he says ironically but not in a mean way.

I immediately feel my cheeks burn. I remember I woke up in the middle of the night and found my arm wrapped around Luke’s waist. I know I wanted to flirt with him, but I didn’t want to take it that far. I thought I was sleeping with Calum last night. I was dreaming about him and me at his place after a night out or something... I don't know, dreams are weird. I took my arms away immediately, but I guess Luke realized anyway. You can really betray yourself in dreams.

“I was hoping you hadn't noticed,” I say embarrassed, biting the inside of my cheek.

“It’s okay,” he shrugs still smiling.

“Why didn't you remove it?” It makes no sense that he didn’t shove me off when he felt my arm around him.

“Well, it was kind of cute. And since I can’t make you happy when you’re awake, I decided to let you enjoy your dreams?” What?

I laugh out loud, “stop it!” I push his shoulder and he gives me a puzzled look. My laughter turns to awkward chuckles; I expected him to join me. “You can’t be serious.” He looks down at his half eaten bagel. He was serious. “What’s that? Pity? I don’t need it.”

“I just feel guilty for making you go through all of this.” He doesn’t meet my eyes yet I feel the urge to find his. I need to confirm his words.

“Why are you doing it then?” I snap at him.

“It’s for the best, you should trust me by now.” And to be honest I think I do. If he wanted me dead or whatever, I wouldn’t be sitting here having a friendly chat while eating breakfast, right?
