chapter 1

I woke up just hours after my fight with Natalie and Victor. I looked around and my best friend in he entire world Vasilisa or lissa as literally everybody calls her but the Queen stood by my side.

I sat up and she shot her head towards me
"Are you ok"
"I'm fine lissa" the look she gave me suggested that she doesn't listen to me not that she ever does anyway.
"I promise lissa, now why don't you go and see your boyfriend"
She nodded and walked out closing the door behind her.

My head ached my shoulder and arm were so sore because Natalie had broken it. I got up and changed into my uniform because of the stupid maroi timetable it was 3pm and almost time for first lesson.

I walked towards the door when it came swinging open and there stood dimitri
"Where do you think your going"
"Umm to look after lissa and to go to my lesson"
"I don't think so, your going to get back into bed and rest because you have a broken arm and you nearly died"
I pushed dimitri out the way and walked out but just as I was about to walk out of the clinic I heard the trumpets. Uhhh the Queen was here so this speech should be very good.

I walked to the auditorium where everyone was seated i stood in the back leaning against one of the pillars. I looked to the side of the stage and saw dimitri stood by the stairs and the Queen on the stage.
"Once again I'm here for one person, where is Vasilisa dragomir"
Lissa Walked onto the stage
"I have finally declared a magic it's called spirit and it may take me a while to get a hang on it but I have a lot of people helping me, mainly a bunch of old people in robes but some people who mean a lot to me" she looked up to me then to Christian.
"And no you weren't seeing things at the dance my boyfriend is Christian Ozera. Also as you all may know my best friend Rose Hathaway" everybody looked towards me
"She was recently in a fight and I know she will be ok because we have each other, so without her I wouldn't be here. So let's stop slut shaming, bulling and discriminating against each other"
Everybody clapped and cheered and I did the same. I looked towards the position where dimitri was and noticed that he wasn't there, Alberta was now there.

I walked out of the building and into the field. I saw dimitri and walked to him
"Hey dimitri"
"Rose you shouldn't be here"
"Don't worry comrade everybody's eating but I wanted to talk to you"
"What about"
"You lied about your feelings for me"
"Yes"
"Why"
"Because it's more than just my position at the academy and my age it's that if I let myself love you on wouldn't throw myself in front of the Princess I would throw myself in front of you"
I shook my head
"You know your reason for not loving me just make me love you more"
He looked at me and I tried to look away but I couldn't.
"Just once I want you to kiss me without any magical charm forcing you to"
He leaned forward but I flipped him and he lay on the ground laughing. He got up and I kissed him on the cheek and walked back into the building.
But I looked back at him once more i saw his guardian mask slip once more as a tear rolled down his face.

I knew that we both loved each other but we couldn't be together.
