When Jon came home that evening, he was sure he'll need to go track Emma down, not ready for her to be sat at the kitchen table ready for him. She changed out of the clothes she was wearing earlier, trading them into long dark jeans and a hot pink shirt. Her hair was down and it seemed as if she was planning on going out.
"Hello," Jon said when he was stood in front of her.
"Hi," Emma looked up. She wasn't smiling, but for some reason she seemed happy to him, the kind of happy he hasn't seen in a while.
"Look Em, we need to talk about what happen last night," Jon pulled out the chair in front of her and sat down, leaning his elbows on the surface.
"I told you everything that happen when you questioned me at the station," She narrowed her eyes, as if challenging him to make her go over it again.
"I know, but I don't like the way we left things just before," Jon replied.
"Listen dad, I said some mean things before and I'm sorry, I didn't mean them, It was said in the heat of the moment since I was upset," Emma spread her hands in explanation.
"Yes you did, But I understand, at least I am trying.. I am trying my best here," Jon lets his hands fall, and Emma reached out to touch them.
"I know dad," She said. The happy light in her eyes was gone now, and Jon wanted it back desperately, not wanting to see his daughter sad ever again.
"Are you going somewhere?" He questioned, pulling his hands away, and getting up to his feet.
"I am actually, I am going out," She smirked.
"Oh you are now?" Jon was about to inform her she will not be going anywhere, grounded for lying about her whereabouts last night, but then he got another glimpse at her face. Her cheeks grew red, and that happy light was back in her blue eyes, reminding him so much of Katherine.
"Who are you going out with?" He asked, bringing his hands to his hips.
"Harry.. He asked me out," Too embarrassed to look at him, Emma focused on a point to his right. For a moment Jon was taken aback, surprised the boy asked her out after all that happen. Maybe it was a thank you dinner? Whatever it is he couldn't ignore the fact it is what made his daughter happy again.
There was a knock at the door just then. And Emma shot to her feet giving him a look that meant 'play nice' as she paced swiftly to the door.
"Have fun," He called as she opened the door to step out, smart enough not to let Harry in.
Harry's POV
We were sat in my car, and Emma wiped her hands on her jeans nervously. I noticed she wear jeans, probably decided she does not dress to impress which I liked. I on the other hand wear a button down shirt, and I am trying to impress the girl with the big blue eyes and pink strand sitting beside me.
"I wasn't sure your dad would let you go out with me," I confess truthfully.
"If it was up to him he probably wouldn't," She shrugged. Her answer made the side of my mouth twitch. Jon liked me. I knew he did, but it was one thing to be friends with his daughter and do homework together and a different thing to date her.
"Where are we going?" She asked bringing her feet up to the seat and hugging her knees, while she rested her chin on top of them. I noticed she does that a lot, no matter if she is sitting in a car or on a chair by the table.
"It's a surprise," I tell her taking a right to the town's entrance.
"Are we leaving town?" She picked up her head to look around.
