She's Gone

Talking the first step off the bus

She takes a deep breath

Starting the walk home

The thoughts rise to the surface

Tears stream down her face

She reaches for the key

Unlocking the door

And stepping inside

Dropping her bag

Upon the kitchen floor

She closes the door and locks it

No one will be around for hours

No one will be there to stop her

The tears continue to come

She goes to the fridge

Takes out the cake

She made it yesterday for today

Her birthday

She's turning 17

She has finally had enough

She gave up on everything

Eating a slice of cake

Then going to her step-dad's safe

After finding the numbers

Engraved into the wall behind it

28-45-03

Opening the safe

And seeing the thing that will end it all

17 years on this place

Many years of suffering

She just wants to end it

Grabbing what she needs

She walks into the living room

Wiping at her tear stained face

She sits on the carpeted floor

The thoughts still tearing away at her

She finally raises the gun

Placing it upon her right temple

Tears still escape

The thoughts still present

She counts down from 10

10...

She takes a deep breath

9...

8...

7...

She wipes away the tears

6...

5...

Another deep breath

4...

Finger on the trigger

3...

Another tear falls

2...

Her hand is no longer shaky

1...

She pulled the trigger

She's...

Gone...
