Percy POV
I stared out the train's antique window wishing the ride to be over. I wished I had denied this trip. I wish I could travel by sea. I wish I could curl up in my bed forgetting everything that happened today. But that wouldn't happen. Once a quest starts, I really can't stop. Last night, back at camp I had a dream in which I went to this great big castle, few countries above Greece and met a brown bushy haired girl with a TON of books in her hand helping me find my way.
Ohmygerd, I thought when I entered the dark, tall castle. This place is freakin' cool and huge!
"Welcome, seems like the Aurors have sent a worthy person," an elderly, yet bold voice said behind me. I spun around, face-to-face with a man, I don't know, maybe ninety-ish. Whatever was the matter, I kept staring at the wooden stick with many patterns at his hand. "You must be Perseus Jackson. And this is my wand, if you were wondering." He gestured the stick in his hand. I nodded uncertainly. "Very well then, come in, come in, the Sorting Hat will start its song soon."
With that, he walked away, his cloak swishing with every step. The words Aurors, wand, and Sorting Hat swirled around my brain wondering what use they had. A weird place, this is.
"New here?" Once again I turned around, but to see a girl around the same age as me, the same girl in my dream visions.
I slightly nodded. "Yeah, I'm Percy Jackson. Hey, wait a sec! I've seen you somewhere else. Huh. Interesting."
She smiled, showing her buckteeth. "I'm Hermione Granger and yes I know you, too. In case you were wondering, that is the Great Hall." She gestured to a great door which was slightly ajar to show a literal great hall lined with four tables and a long and raised table at the end.
"Well," I sighed, clearly baffled at how much I'd have to learn to just complete this quest. "So, where do I go now?"
"Ok, so follow me," Hermione suggested. "Professor McGonagall will help you with your scheduling and Sorting."
With no other options I trudged behind her, trying to keep up with her brisk and steady pace. Finally, we entered a cozy room with a desk and a blazing fireplace.
"Welcome to Hogwarts," a strict tone said behind me.
I spun around to meet a woman with a knowing look and tight bun. I gasped, weirdly, and she looked quite familiar.
"You are," I started, not quite finishing my sentence.
"Yes, I am Aunt Minnie." the woman, or I should call her, Professor confessed. "I will be helping you finish your quest along with our dear Hermione Granger and Neville Longbottom. I'm quite certain that their friends Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley are too busy completing their previous quest." I stood there for a moment taking this all in. Of course, I was used to meeting new people and experiencing new things because of all the quests I have done.
Hermione broke the silence. "Well, the Sorting is about to start soon, so I will give you a quick tour." She abruptly walked out the door, not waiting for a reply.
"So," I said. "What really is this place?"
"This is Hogwarts, where young wizards and witches learn how to control and use magic properly. The founders Godric Gryffindoor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, and Rowena Ravenclaw founded it. They created the Houses that you are about to get Sorted in." Hermione said in one breath. She really did remind me of Annabeth. Thinking of her made me feel homesick for Camp Half-Blood. Speaking of which, this whole, Hog's Warts place reminded me of Camp.
Hermione's voice interrupted my thoughts. "Come here. The dungeons are where the Hufflepuff Common Room, the kitchens, Snape -- sorry, I mean, Professor Slughorn's -- Potion Lessons, and the Slytherin Common Room is."
"Ok, so, a House is like a team or a group? Because back from where I came from you where grouped based on your parents..."
Hermione tilted her head as if considering the idea, then slowly nodding her head, she agreed. "Yeah, I guess you could say it that way. Anyways, c'mon you should come and meet my friends. You will get along with them very well, I hope."
Hermione spun on her heel and walked towards the Great Hall, I think. Most of the Hall was already filled with students, each wearing a different color robe, based on their tables, which I supposed was based on their Houses. I felt like the odd one out, still wearing my bright orange Camp Half-Blood t-shirt.
"Boo!" Somebody suddenly said behind me. I yelped, stumbling to fall right in front of the person, or I should say thing. I was nearly paralyzed for a moment at what I saw.
"Helllllooooooo..." The transparent like person said. No, wait, it was a ghost. "You can call me Nick or Sir Nicholas de Mimsy Porpington, which is what I would prefer more." Without a moment's notice, he pulled his head off his neck! I screamed again and crawled backwards. I got up and ran towards where Hermione was waiting.
"Feeling jumpy today?" Hermione inquired. I rolled my eyes. I had experienced worse at Camp. The ghost I saw was nothing compared to the lessons at Camp Half-Blood. Hermione then led me to a table at the very end, where a boy with messy hair and round glasses and another boy with red hair and a not-feeling-well expression were sitting.
"Hello, I'm Harry and this is Ron," The boy with glasses explained. "Ron, well, he just encountered some of the treats of the Skiving Snackboxes and is not feeling the greatest today." Ron moaned and clutched his stomach. He ran out of the Hall just before whatever he ate waterfalled out of his mouth.
"Well the Sorting is going to start soon, so you might want to get in line with the other first year students..." Hermione suggested.
"Yeah, I'll do that..." I assured.
"One, more thing before you go," Hermione said. "How did you know Professor McGonagall before." For the first time since I stepped into the castle, I smiled.
"I'll tell you after the Sorting." I said.
"Well, I hope you get into Gryffindoor, then!"
(A/N: YES!!!! Summer is here! Which means that more chapters! Sorry for the unfinished chapter earlier... I will try to update it at least twice a week and get in about 1000 or more words... Besides, what house do you think Percy is going to get into? And, who was that old man in the beginning of the chapter? Remember, Dumbledore is gone... )
