Ron POV
We trudged up the stairs to Professor McGonagall's office, not saying a word. Harry whispered something in the gargoyle's ear, probably a password, but it sounded more like a candy from Hogsmeade.
Anyways, we walked in the room to see that pretty girl I met in the morning. She was standing in a line with Percy, a boy with crazy dark hair and a mischievous grin, and my cousin, Annabeth.
"Hey Annie," I greeted her for the first time in a long time, using her childish nickname. She gave me a deathly glare and she scowled at me. I guess she doesn't appreciate it anymore...
"It's Annabeth," She corrected in a cold tone. Maybe the camp she goes to changed her personality. Because in one family reunion, I almost told my cousin Lilith that she used to play with Barbie dolls. She swore that she would kill me if I told anybody else.
Anyways, Piper was sitting at a stool, looking really bored when McGonagall appeared from the back of the office.
"Ah," McGonagall noticed. She pulled out the Sorting Hat from a shelf behind. "I see that you are already ready." She was speaking to Piper, but she didn't realize it was her that the Professor was speaking to until she looked up and saw McGonagall staring at her.
"M-me?" Piper stuttered, clearly confused at what she meant by "ready." McGonagall rolled her eyes.
"Well, of course, you are sitting on the stool that you are supposed to sit on when you get Sorted." McGonagall explained. "The four founders created--"
"Yeah, yeah, I know," Piper interrupted. "So can I get Sorted now?" McGonagall took the old and battered hat and gently placed it on her chestnut hair. What the hat did unusually was the moment the rim of the Hat barely skimmed her hair, it screamed. Like, a full on glass shattering scream.
Then, it started to rant. "MCGONAGALL! YOU SHOULD'VE TOLD ME BEFORE YOU PUT ME ON SOME FILTHY MUGGLE HEAD! I NEED A BATH!" Everyone stared at the hat, unsure of what to do. Even McGonagall, which was a surprise for a person like her.
"I - uh, um, WHAT?" McGonagall finally seemed to make sense of what the Hat said. "Are you saying that she is a Muggle? That can't be." Her voice slowly started to rise in something Ron never heard from her, panic. Even Piper looked shocked, clearly knowing what a Muggle meant.
"Wait," McGonagall regained her composure. "Well, to bad for the Hat, because Piper is staying. I think Hufflepuff will suit her. NEXT!"
Well, wow. I leaned close to Harry and whispered, "Oooh, McGonagall is so savage." He chuckled, knowing that McGonagall is usually very strict about rules and Muggles getting Sorted, if that's even possible. But I still don't get how Piper was a Muggle. It could be something to do with Demeter's children. I mean, Aphrodite's children.
Anyways, Annabeth claimed he was going to get Sorted next and went and sat on the stool. McGonagall smiled awkwardly and placed the hat on her. Ron knew what she was going to get: Ravenclaw, for being so smart, of course. But much to his surprise, the Hat took its time to respond. Maybe even after one and a half minutes. But, everybody waited patiently and silently without a sound.
Finally the Hat spoke up. It said, "Oh I think we have an issue here. I PUT YOU IN GRYFFINCLAW!" Then there was a short pause. And then and an eruption of noise. Everybody started talking at once. McGonagall screamed for silence, yet Annabeth just looked at them and had no idea of what just happened. Conveniently, Micheal, Neville, and Dean had entered the room. I tapped Harry for his attention and pointed to the newcomers.
Neville pointed at me to my surprise and gestured me to go over there. Harry beckoned me to go, but when I refused, he dragged me along with him over to the doorway. I peeked behind to see Hermione arguing with McGonagall. I inwardly smiled to see McGonagall's usually tidy bun popping out of its place amidst the issue.
"Hey, Ron, is everything alright here?" Neville asked me.
Harry decided to reply for me, which I was grateful for, "Blimey, everything is upside down here. Annabeth got Sorted into —"
"Who's Annabeth?" Dean asked.
"Never mind," I replied, with a little harshness in my tone. "So why are you guys up here?"
"We came for you two." Michael said.
"Oh," Harry said, quite amused. Many things had been going on lately in the castle, and he assumed that more was going to happen.
"Hey, we were just wondering, what you exactly did with that Elder Wand." Neville said. "Someone told me you had it and chucked it off a cliff, but I'm really sure that this could solve a problem. I hope you bloody actually didn't do that."
Harry winced and asked, "Oh no. Who told you that?"
"Hermione."
"Right," Harry started. "You see I kind of did. And I snapped it in half. And it's now sitting in the bottom of the Black Lake."
"Oh Harry! Why?" Michael exclaimed.
"See, I can solve your problem, but you just need to help me get the Elder Wand." Harry consoled him.
"Ok, here's the issue." Neville said.
Annabeth POV
"This is outrageous," said the creepy bun lady, with a stomp. "This Hat is making up nonsense."
"But, Professor McGonagall, the Hat says the final decision. We can't deny it?" Hermione said. I have a feeling that if we get to know each other, we are going to be good friends. But of course, it doesn't seem that its going to happen so soon.
"Um, Professor," Percy interrupted. I was overjoyed to see him here all well. "What's going on?"
"J-just a little malfunction." McGonagall quite did manage to sum up the entire situation quite well.
"Professor, do you know where Harry and Ron went?" Hermione asked. "They were just here in the back of the room few minutes ago."
"I saw them leaving the room with 3 other boys wearing red and black robes," Piper said.
"That must be Neville and his friends. But first let's see what we can do here without them." Hermione suggested. "How about we try getting Leo Sorted?"
"Fine."
"Ok Leo, come here." McGonagall heaved a sigh.
Secret POV
I flipped through some pages of my book, but I didn't find anything interesting. I sighed. I couldn't be cooped up in this secret bunker forever. Without my wand, I am starting to feel like a Muggle. Finally, I came upon the page I was looking for and gave a cry of relief.
"Hey, come here I found her!" I cried in relief. I held up the book, Magickal Myths so that it was visible for Draco.
"Really?" he said. "Then lets get started."
(A/N Sorry guys, I wrote this chapter like months ago. Finally posted this with a tad bit more action. Comment and tell who you think the secret POV is.)
