As we entered the quiet town by sunset, those who were outside stared at us as we passed by. And those who were inside in their homes eventually walked out or looked out their windows.

We reached the castle gates, the knights letting us in immediately. We entered the castle, immediately heading toward the throne room where Hamilton and Eliza ordered some knights asking for advice from the bishops.

Eliza and Hamilton saw Angelica walk into the room, causing others to look at us.

"Leave us," Hamilton ordered to everyone. We all gave him a small bow before leaving the room. The Knights closed the door behind us, Lafayette stretching his back.

"I don't know about you, but I feel like I haven't eaten in days," He glanced at me and Laurens. "Care to join me?"

"I'm not that hungry," I refused. "But thanks."

Lafayette shrugged. "Laurens? Mulligan?"

"Fuck yeah," Laurens smiled.

"I guess," Mulligan chuckled as the trio walked down the hall. I went in the other direction before stopping in front of a familiar door.

I knocked twice before opening the door and stepping in.

"Madison?" I asked, quietly shutting the door behind me. "Are you here?"

The room was empty, no Madison. Though his top hat sat atop a desk.
I noticed that the balcony doors were slightly ajar. I stepped out to the balcony, the sky already dark, stars twinkling above.

But there was nobody there.

I examined the stars that littered the dark sky. I noticed how the stars in Wonderland were brighter and more plentiful than in the real world. And unlike the real world, I felt safe here, despite the maniac King and his killer soldiers just sitting on the other side of the forest.

I turned to go back inside until I saw a silhouette on the roof of the castle. It was too dark to clearly tell who it was but I had a feeling it was Madison. I pulled myself onto the roof using the stone railing. I carefully walked over to the silhouette, smiling when I saw that it was Madison.

"Hey," I took a seat next to him. Laughing, almost, when he slightly jumped.

"Geez, you started me." He sighed, turning to meet my gaze. "I was half hoping you didn't come back."

"Missed you too," I chuckled, looking up at the full moon.

"It's just three days," He rolled his eyes playfully. "Why would I miss you?"

"Three and a half," I corrected. "And I don't know... Because you love me?"

Madison's eyes grew wide, his face soon turning into a scowl.

"I do not!" He lightly punched my arm. "I hate you, actually! You're arrogant, ignorant, full of pride, you think highly of yourself, and you don't even keep your promises!"

"What do you mean, 'you don't even keep your promises!'?" I raised an eyebrow, confused. "I returned as soon as possible, just as I said."

Madison pressed his lips together, crossing his arms and looking away. "Oh, Never mind!"

There was an awkward stretch of silence, and I started to regret what I just said.

"To tell the truth?" Madison suddenly started. "I actually did kind of miss your awful humor." He still didn't look at me, though that made my lips turn upward into a smile.

"Flattering."

There was another stretch of silence, this one longer than the previous. I contemplated on saying "Nice talk, goodnight." And just stand up and walk away. But I didn't. Somehow.

"Tell me more about your watch." I heard Madison mumble.

"From what you already don't know, this is my favorite watch," I explained. "I will never replace it, and I won't and will not leave the house without it. Even if I'm late for law school or something and don't have time for anything, I don't leave without it." I huffed. "It just... seems so important but I don't know why. I wish I could though. I want to know where I got this from and why it seems so important to me."

Madison only met out a small "Oh." Before I started to hear a small hiccup. "I didn't expect that at all." He never turned back to look at me but I noticed that his shoulders were slightly quivering.

Did I say something to upset him?

"Are you-"

Before I could finish my sentence, I heard Mulligan calling out to me from the balcony.

"Thomas! There you are, I've been looking everywhere for you!" He yelled. "Come quickly to the Throne Room!!"
