“Percy stop it!” I laughed as he chased me across the football field. I knew I couldn’t out run him, but I still tried. He jumped me and we crashed into the soft grass, both of us laughing hysterically. We lay on the grass, laughing in each other’s arms.  As I caught my breath again, I looked at my watch, and my eyes grew wide.

“HOLY CRAP, PERCY!!!” He looked at me worriedly.

“What?! What is it, what’s wrong?”

“Its 5:23!!” He just looked at me, confused. “My dad said to be home at 4:00!” His eyes got very wide. He knew how bad my dad got when he was angry. He took my hand and sprinted across the field, practically dragging me behind him.

.               .               .

When we finally reached my house, which was actually more of a mansion, due to my family being rich.  I was sweaty and out of breath. I stood there panting, Percy slowly walking to the door to knock. Knock, knock. The door creaked open, and Percy looked back at me, worried. I got up and jogged to the door, trying to comfort him.

“Everything is going to be okay, don’t worry.”

“But you know your dad! When he’s angry…”Percy shuddered.

“Don’t worry, it’ll be fine.” I tried to give him a smile, and went inside the house.

The mansion was dark and ominous, just like a horror movie. I slowly stepped around, my hands out as so I wouldn’t trip over anything. I heard a few soft steps behind me and whirled around. All I heard was a greeting bark.

“Aw! Teddy, you scared me…” I scooped up the little pup in my arms, and he licked my face. “Yeah I love you too…”

Suddenly the lights switched on, and my father walked in.

“Where…have you… BEEN!!!” He yelled. Teddy leaped out of my arms, and growled at him.

“Bad boy! Get back here!” I commanded, trying to stay calm.

“Stupid dog!” He kicked teddy out of the way, teddy whimpering in pain.

“TEDDY!!” I tried to rush to his side, but my dad blocked my path.

“This is the final straw, missy! You’ve been gone all day with that dumb Percy kid, just like you do every other day!”

“He is not dumb! Now get out of the way!!” I was about ready to punch him in the face and run.

“NO!! This is my house, these are my rules, and as long as you stay here you better follow them…or else” I instantly knew what he meant. I looked over to the living room table; a gun was always kept in there. I broke.

“Fine!” I screeched, tears welling up in my eyes. “Then I guess I won’t stay!” that took him by surprise, but he was back in seconds.

“HA! You wouldn’t make it two days without me” I glared at him, rage burning in my eyes

“Just you watch me! You’ve hurt my friends, me, and now my dog?!” What the @#$% is wrong with you?!”

“Oh like you have any friends! The only friend you have doesn’t even exist! ANDY ISNT REAL! He is just a hallucination from your schizophrenia! Get a life! I’m the only one who has your medication! YOU need me!!”

“I don’t need anything from you” I spat. I grabbed Teddy and ran out the door. He yelled after me

“If I ever see you in this house- no THIS TOWN AGAIN, YOU DON’T EVEN WANT TO KNOW WHAT I’LL DO!!!” He slammed the door. I ran. The only place where teddy could be safe from my dad is Percy’s house.

I ran down the road, not even noticing the screaming pain in my legs. I heard a friendly voice beside me. I looked over to see a tall, dark haired guy with freckles running beside me.

“Andy!! Thank god you’re here!” I sighed in relief. I slowed my pace.

“What ya running from?” Andy asked, a smile on his face.

“Ugh…My dad. He threw me out of the house; I’m on my own now.”

“Not completely!” He softly jabbed his elbow into my side and I laughed.

“Yeah, I have you!” I hugged him, and he hugged back.

“Let me guess, you can’t even be in the town?” He put his hand on my shoulder.

“Yeah… I can’t even see Percy…” My vision got a bit blurry.

“Aw, don’t cry Olive! I’m here.” He suddenly turned his head. “Ohp! Percy’s coming! Got to run, bye!” I turned my head to see Percy running over.

“Oh I’m sure he won’t mind you being here…” I looked back, and Andy was gone. How does he disappear like that…? Percy came up to me and gave me a hug.

“Oh thank god you’re alright. I heard the screaming and I started running…” he hugged me tighter.

“Listen, I have a favor to ask you. Teddy isn’t safe with my dad; I need you to take care of him, okay?”

“Yeah of course, but what about you?”

“I’ll be fine, you just won’t see me for a while… I have to go, okay? I love you Percy…” OI gave him a kiss on the cheek and started running for the nearest town.
