SORRY!  This is WAY overdue, but I kept feeling like it didn't work, you know?  I didn't want to give you guys crappy quality, so, yeah.  Oh, and there's a time skip to when they go to capture Gaara, alright?  Cause I need Naru-kun back, as many of you do, as well!  XD

Chapter 14

(Ookami's POV)

~Two Years Later~

Sometimes being sane really stunk.

There were definitely perks, like going on missions, being able to joke around and talk to people without wanting to kill them, you know, the usual stuff.  It was actually really fun being with the Akatsuki when I was sane, as it allowed me to grow close to everybody, but mainly Deidara, Sasori, and Itachi.  However, because of my sanity, there was one thing - or person, rather - that I couldn't, no matter how hard I tried, get my mind off of for the two years that I had been with the Akatsuki.  A certain blonde haired, blue eyed boy.  A certain Naruto Uzumaki.

When I was awake, I couldn't help but wonder how he was, and when I went to sleep, I relived our almost kiss and even dreamt of actually kissing him.  Imagined how soft his lips would be against mine...

Snap out of it, Ookami!  You're a freaking criminal!  S-Rank!  Missing-nin!  Anything ring a bell?

I sighed wistfully, I couldn't help it.  He was just so... lovable.  My eyes widened at the word.  Love.  Not something I had thought about before.  I couldn't possibly be... in love with Naruto, could I?  No!  Impossible, I hadn't even seen the boy in two entire years.  I shook the thought away as best I could, but it lingered there, taunting me, even as another familiar blonde burst into the room we shared.  "Princess, you ready yet?  You know Danna doesn't like to be kept waiting..."

I snorted, grabbing my cloak and slipping my Akatsuki ring on to my left hand's little finger.  "Understatement of the century, Deidara."

He smirked slightly as I pulled the cloak on and then became serious again.  "Come on.  I want to go get my Jinchuuriki already..." he whined, and I gave him a look, growling softly in return.

"Quit whining," I said, smashing my fist on top of his head as I walked passed.  I smirked cockily at his quiet whimper that followed and strolled out passed a grumbling Sasori.

"It's about time," he said in the gravelly, deep tone that came with using Hiruko.

He was so impatient.  I suppressed a snort at the thought of Sasori ever meeting Kakashi, covering it up with a cough.  "Let's just go get the Jinchuuriki."

*****

"Finally!"  I rejoiced as Deidara showed up with the familiar red-headed being known as Gaara wrapped up in the tail of his clay bird.  I had been stuck with Sasori while he got to go and capture Gaara, which was really unfair, especially considering I knew Shukaku personally.  So instead I was bored to death watching Sasori beat the crap out of Kankuro.  Not.  Fun.

"Do you know how Jashin damned bored I was?"  I snapped at him, before internally cursing myself, as I had obviously spent much too much time with Hidan over the two years I had been with the Akatsuki.

Deidara merely raised his arms in surrender.  "Sorry, Princess.  He was strong."

"Not THAT strong, Deidara.  You're forgetting I know him."
