So this is me swallowing my pride, standing in front of you saying I'm sorry for that night.

And I go back to December all the time...

                                                                                                                                                         - Back to December - Taylor Swift

He watched her walking out the Great Hall. Her beautiful brown hair, her tanned skin, her big brown eyes. She was absolutely stunning. And he was Draco Malfoy.

Hermione's pov

"Hermione..." said the ginger cautiously

"What Ron?" I replied as we exited the hall, stuffed to the rim with an amazing Hogwarts dinner.

"Ferret features keeps looking at us,"

We turned around, only to find Draco Malfoy staring at us.

"I don't know why," I responded bluntly

"God what's up with you, Mione, loosen up a bit. It's just ever since his father's been sent to Azkaban, he's been really weird. Especially around us,"

"Well it's pretty obvious isn't it Harry? We've only gone and won a 'battle' against the man his father works for, sent his dad to prison and exposed the entire Malfoy family to the rest of the world," I replied

"Don't tell me you're standing up for him..."

"Of course I'm not standing up for him Harry. You know full well how I feel about him," I spat spitefully "I'm going to the library,"

And with that i stormed off and took the longest possible route to the library.

The two teenage boys looked at eachother and shrugged. They would never understand the concept of the female mind.

I walked into the library, inhaling the intoxicating scent of musk and old books. The scent was comforting and distracted me of any thoughts of Draco Malfoy. SIghing wistfully, I made for the back of the library. I wasn't the only one with the same idea. She turned around to face non other than her least favourite Slytherin.

'Coincidence,' I thought sarcastically

I scooped up my books, and made to move away from the beautiful face I hated so much. Those still, grey eyes, porcelain skin, platinum blonde hair. He was the epitomy of perfection, everything I loathed.

Wait, Granger" she heard a deep, clear voice say.

I turned around, alarmed to find the teenage boy staring at me directly
"What the hell do you want Malfoy?"
"To talk," he replied, his gaze unfaltering causing a feint blush to appear upon my cheeks. Draco smirked, slowly cocking his head to the side, looking me up and down. I rolled my eyes to hide my bashfulness.
"About what, Malfoy?" I said through gritted teeth, the grip on my wand getting firmer and firmer by the second.
"Calm down, Hermione," Draco said looking down "I just wanted to talk to you about what happened that night with my father."

I looked up puzzled. a) Draco Lucius Malfoy just called me by my first name, b) the look on his face was innocent, almost childlike. If I didn't hate him, would have said he looked cute.

"Please," he added with a touch of desperation to his voice.
"Fine," I said, sitting down "You know about the department of mysteries, don't you?"

Draco nodded, still looking down.
"Your father asked Harry for the prophecy,"
Draco flinched at the mention of his father, burying his face further down. Strange.
"And of course Harry said no,"
"And that was when Bellatrix - your aunt - killed Sirius," My voice cracked slightly at the brief mention of Sirius.

Draco looked up at me, my eyes glazed over slightly.

"Hermione. I'm so sorry," he mumbled, slowly taking my cold palm into his own.  I twitched slightly, keen to move away from the person I hated more than anyone or anything,  but instead found myself comforted by his surprisingly gentle touch. Slowly, he caressed my hand, short strokes with his index finger.

"Draco? Why are you sorry?"
"I'm sorry about my family. They don't understand anything. They never will and its embarassing that it takes my father to be taken away for me to see what a real family should be like.  And... I'm sorry too. About everything that I ever did calling you a --"
"Mudbood," I cut him off, grinning slightly.
He smirked back at me, running a hand through his hair. The library was empty now, as it was almost nine o'clock.
"I should probably go. Harry and Ron will be wondering where I am.."
"Me too. It was nice talking to you Hermione," he said as the two exited the library "Surprisingly," he added
"You're still an arrogant douchebag aren't you?"
"And you're still a suck up, know it all," he replied with a smirk that could melt iron.

And with that my arch nemesis, Draco Malfoy swaggered away to his rival dormitory.

Draco's flashback

"DRACO!!!! Come here baby!" said the beautiful voice of the toddler's mother.

The infant waddled over to his mother on his chubby two year old legs, giggling at the funny face she was pulling. He could look at that face for hours, days, months and never get tired of it. He collapsed into her open arms, the two of them chuckling in each others embrace. Narcissa looked into his angelic face, so full of life and joy and happiness. In that moment, she felt like the happiest woman in the entire world, looking down upon her son. Like  nothing in the universe could  tear apart their bond. But then, there moment was ruined as quickly as it started, as Draco's father stormed into the room enraged. Tears began spilling from Draco's eyes, as he looked at his father, terrified. He slid away into the corner of the grand room, covering his eyes with his hands.

"Narcissa you lazy whore! Get up and do something with your ugly face! I've got visitors coming in two hours. Useless woman,"

Draco flinched as his father's huge hand collided with Narcissa's face. When he had left the room, Draco crawled over to his mother, who had silent tears steaming down his face.

"I don't think your ugly, Mama," he said in his cute, baby voice voice "I think you're very pretty,"

Narcissa beamed at her baby boy through her tears. He gripped onto her finger with his tiny hands, smiling sweetly up at her. She loved him most in the entire world. Loved his single tuft of white blond hair, his cute button nose and most of all his gorgeous grey eyes.

Third person

His eyes were the one physical trait that changed about Draco

The change wasn't exceptionally drastic. Except they weren't as bright anymore. They lost their innocence, their glistening spark. They were haunted with shadows of memories of his father's abusive words and threats. Draco Malfoy was not the perfect boy with the perfect life. He was far from it. But today, a muggleborn called Hermione Granger, bought that spark in his eyes back for a moment. Draco lay in his bed thinking about how he had just spoken to Granger. Hermione Granger. She was intelligent, captivating, understanding. Beautiful. Why had he never seen it before? Those were the last thoughts he fell into a deep sleep, slowly wrapping his arms around the teddy bear nobody knew he had.
