When the frost bites the snow, and Christmas comes around
- When Christmas Comes Around - Matt Terry

It was Christmas at Hogwarts and everyone was up bright and early to open their gifts. I ran downstairs to the tree in the Common room, only to find Ron and Harry already there.
"Hi guys!" I wave to them
"Hermione! What took you?" Harry chucked me a couple of parcels and immediately I began opening them as fast as I could. I found a new wand case from my parents, some new books from Harry (which smelt amazing, might I add), and a second hand cookery book from Ron ("Wow umm Ron... This is umm amazing," I said). I was quite disappointed with the gift Ron had given me, especially since I bought him an expensive pair of leather Chaser's gloves for quiddich ("Woaaah 'Mione! These are sick"). Oh well. I rummaged through the rest of my pile and found some Bertie Botts Every Flavoured Beans from Neville, bless his heart and a set of really pretty bangles from Luna and Ginny. I looked around hopelessly looking for the present that I had been most eager to open. But no. Nothing from Draco.
My heart sank a little, as I had given him a Broomstick servicing kit, which I had seen him eyeing up when we had our walk around Hogsmeade.
'Never mind," I thought optimistically. I trudged back up the stairs to the girls dormitories and was pleasantly surprised by what was lying on my bed. No it wasn't Draco! But it was close to it. Smoothed out, with not a single crease was the most beautiful deep plum coloured dress and next to it was a pretty little velvet box the same colour as the dress. I opened the box and inside was a pair of lovely golden earrings the shape of lions and a tiny note, neatly folded up. I prised the small piece of parchment open and read

I smiled softly at the note, not noticing that Ginny was behind me.
"He really does like you huh?" she said with a voice like silk.
"You think so?" I mumbled back, still looking at the note
"Yes. Nobody's ever done anything like that for me," she replied, playing with my hair affectionately "but more to the point, how was your date with him a a few weeks ago? I forgot to ask. I take it went well, judging by this," she gestured to the bed, which was covered with Draco's tokens.
"It wasn't a date Ginny,"
"It was,"
"It wasn't"
"Was"
"Wasn't"
"Was to,"
Etc etc
"Anyway, our perfectly friendly meeting a.k.a NOT a date was very good actually,"
Ginny raised a skeptical eyebrow before I blurted out,
"OH MY GOD GINNY IT WAS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE AND HE TOOK ME ON THIS TRAIN AND IT WAS FANCY AS ANYTHING! YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE LOOK ON MY FACE AND ---"
"Hermione! You're so in love,"
"Am I?" I asked, blushing.
"Yep," she said, popping the letter p.
"I guess I am," I said completely not denying the fact that I was, indeed infatuated with the one person I never thought I would ever like.
"I don't blame you. He's pretty fit. I mean, have you ever seen him shirtless?" she asked, making me blush, scarlet.
