"Did you see Yolanda shoes?" Kimberly said, not paying attention to where she was going. "Kim! Look out!" I yelped, grabbing her arm. Kimberly swerved to right, avoiding the behemoth she almost bumped into, falling over in the process.

"Woah, little lady!" a familar voice bellowed.

"Alan?!" I said jumping backwards.

It was the beginning of the school year, and someone already changed. Unbelievable.

"Yeah.. Puberty hit me hard in the summer." he explained shyly.

Last year, Kimberly crushed on Alan big time. But she liked him for who he was, not for how he looked. Alan used to be a short, with a high voice, and glasses. Now he had turned into this tall boy with curly brown hair and hazel eyes. Kimberly and Alan liked each other, but neither had the courage to ask each other out. It couldn't possibly that hard now.

"H-Hey..." Alan sputtered.

"Hi." Kimberly whispered.

"You look... Great."

"Thanks."

"I'm gonna let you two lovebirds catch up. Kay?" I said walking away.

Kimberly and I flashed our thumbs up sign. Its a best friend thing. As I walked away I bumped into my crush Chase Montgomery. Chase was fine. He had an angular jaw, black hair with a clean lining and brown eyes that caught you like a fly in honey.

"Hey pretty-peach-cheeks!" he smiled, waving at me.

I shielded my face, hoping that he didn't see me.

"No-no-no-ooooo.", I whispered to myself.

In the summer Chase asked me out via text. But my mom took my phone and I couldn't respond. I didnt want to tell him that. Why? Because its embarrassing. I knew he could see me, and was still following me. It was literally the most awkward moment to ever occur in the history of time. The sad part was he was fast too. So I had no chance of out running him. I realized my only escape was the Girls Bathroom. I dashed for it, praying that he wouldn't get there before I did.

"First you avoid my texts. Then you avoid me. The least you could do was say hello." he said "Let alone answer my question.." he added.

"I uhh... I'm sorry. It's just that, I got my phone taken. It was embarrassing. My answer to your question was going to be-" I was pushed out of the way by a girl I hated with a passion.

Cassandra Evans. She was a straight up bitch who always tried to get between chase and I. She just thought she was the prettiest thing alive! I found it hilarious. I mean, she wasn't ugly, but she wasn't me. Chase didn't like her anyway, and it was quite obvious. Her being on his dick all the time irritated me majorly. When she pushed me, it took all my strength not to smack her upside her head.

"Out of my way!" she pushed me and then she added, "Hi Chasey-Boo."

Chase's looked pissed for a minute before he side-stepped the bitch.

"Go away Cassandra." he shooed.

"My answer's yes." I said quickly, wiping off my shirt and looking up at Chase with my head down.

"Ha. What was the question? Should I kill myself?" Cassandra laughed.

That's not even funny.

"That's not even funny." Chase frowned.

I looked at Chase, and back at Cassandra, who was now in my face.

"Are you going to let Chase do everything for you? Or are you going to speak for yourself, bitch?"

"Don't talk to my girlfriend that way." Chase smiled, taking my hand into his and grinning like an idiot.

If only I had a camera. I could capture the look on her face. Oh my God! The way she stomped away after Chase hollered,"Don't shit yourself too hard!", cracked me up and, that is why I loved him. He squeezed my hand and we walked to class together.

We caught up with Kim and Alan at lunch.

"So? Did he ask... 'the question'?" I whispered to Kim.

"No...not yet." she frowned at her speghetti.

"Oh. Sorry." I mumbled.

When we sat down Chase looked at me funny.

"What?" I mumbled through my noodles.

"Something don't smell right." he whsipered.

"Cha-" I tried to finish but I got really dizzy all of a sudden and my throat seemed to suck itself.

"Bella!" I heard him scream. Then I blacked out.

I woke up in the Hospital next to someone. I felt their nails dig it to my hand.

"Chase your nails are killing me..", I managed to mumble.

They managed to un-clamp their hand from mine. My Mom stared down at me.

"Hon." she said, her Puerto-Rican accent thick, "Chase isn't here. But its okay. You just ate some old cheese. The school gave us $5,000 not to sue."

"$5,000?!", I said.

"Mama has her ways.."

"Is dad here?"

"Over here niña!" he chirped.

I smiled. Dad always knew how to make me smile.

After a few minutes I convinced my parents to let me go to school the next day. I didn't get to talk to Chase at all. It didn't feel right. When I was sleeping, I heard something rattle at my window. Thinking it was just the wind, I tossed over. It tapped again. I jerked upwards. I turned my head towards the window slowly. Two big red eyes stared back at me.

I threw my head back on my pillow and shut my eyes tight. This is nothing but a dream.. just a bad dream.. I thought to myself. It tapped at my window steadily, like a clock that endlessly ticked. Eventually I fell asleep again. But I was awaken by someone tapping me. I thought it was my mom again, so I ignored her.

"Bella? Is you up?" Chase asked.

I opened an eye slowly. Sure enough, Chase stood over me looking worried. Just my luck..
