Years. It had been 3 years since she'd seen him. Every aching second, every reassurance letter, every "I'll see you soon." and all the "I love you. Don't forget that." Couldn't keep her from not missing him.
He was drafted 2 months before their anniversary. They'd spent the last 3 on different sides of the planet.
She tried not to cry as she remembered all he missed.

And now he was missing Kristen and Scotty's wedding.

She sat at the reception, drink in her hand. Her soft pink dress matched her light pink nail polish. Her short hair fell over her shoulders.
"Come on!" Gabbie told her, walking over to their table, decorations hung everywhere and she'd just come from the dance floor. "It's fun I think you'd like it."
Liza reluctantly agreed and went to the floor with her friend.
They danced and danced, twirled and twirled. And when Gabbie spun Liza, she was happy. She remembered how David spun her like so, every chance he got. But when she looked behind her, it was Gabbie.
It wasn't David.
Liza sighed and let go of Gabbie,waking back to her table.
She sat at the table, remembering times with David, like their first prom together.

He showed up to her house in a tux with a light red rose in his pocket and white ones in his hand.
Ringing the doorbell he waited, his mouth fell as she stepped out.
"Love you mom!" She turned to him, her dress fell just above her knees, it was black with a light red accent. Her hair was down falling down her back, her curls flying freely.
"Hey." She smiled to him and they linked hands.

The dance was all she ever dreamed of. Her crush for him was never fully secret, as he shared he liked her years before this moment. She told him the same.

When he twirled her she saw a gold light around him and he saw the same in her. The gold spots filled the surrounding spots between the two as they leaned into each other. Her arms going around his neck and his hands settling on her waist. His forehead touched hers and he kissed her lightly.

Liza smiled at the memory before decided to go back to the dance floor. She went and danced with Gabbie.

Gabbie screamed and Liza whipped around, before falling to the ground in tears. Standing once more she ran to him, embracing him in her arms.
"David." She sobbed into his chest. "You're here!"
"Hi Pookie." He replied, kissing her lips softly. "You look perfect tonight." He smiled.
