I woke up at 6:50 am on a Sunday morning, by the sound of violins on my cellphone's alarm.
As quickly as I could, I hit the snooze button to not wake my roomie up.
I picked up my black jeans, a cute crop top, fresh underwear and my towel and head to the bathroom to take a quick shower.
20 minutes later, as I'm finishing off my makeup, I text Camila, telling her I'm about to head down to get breakfast.
I grab my purse and walk barefoot to the door, where my shoes are. I sit on the floor to put them on.
Once I'm done, I walk out the door, making my way to the elevator. When the doors open it is not empty, it had some Chinese strangers in there, and as I get in a notice a couple of odd stares. I ignore them and press the button that reads '2'.
A few seconds later the doors open to reveal some Buddhist sculptures and decorations to the sides, in the middle there are huge open French-like doors. Inside I can see the buffet table right in the middle, filled with food.
I grabbed a plate and start packing some of the unfamiliar food I see there. I put three pieces of watermelon on the edge, one hard egg, some noodles, a white thing that looked like a cloud that grasp my attention, followed by some bread. I take a juice box and chopsticks before walking to the sitting area at the back.
Again, as I'm walking, I can feel the people staring and pointing at me, which I think is pretty weird but I let it slide.
I take an empty table and sit on one of the big comfortable black chair.
I start up with the fruit, and as I'm eating it I can't help think the watermelon is better back home. Weird. I grab my chopsticks and go for the noodles. Have you ever tried picking up thick, oily noodles with chopsticks? It's so difficult. After a few tries I finally do it, I put them in my mouth and I realize... they're spicy AF. I look around to see if anyone is looking at me, very discreetly I go for a napkin, only to find out that instead of napkins they use tissue, I grab one anyway and very quickly I spit out my noodles.
As I'm drinking my juice, I get text from Camila.
"At 8:15, someone is going to pick you up to take you to the school. If she doesn't appear, text me! XO"
How am I supposed to know what car she drives, or what she looks like?
"Alright (:" is all decide to text back. I'll manage.
I remember at this moment that I had to text my dad and a couple of friends.
I grab my chopsticks to grab the white cloud-like thingy, and yes it is lighter than I thought.
Holy. Crap. This is what actual heaven tastes like.
I take a look to see what's inside my mystery food. It's meet, its red... but is it pork? Is it beef? You know what? I don't care, it's too good.
I eat away, while letting my parents know about my trip, accommodation and all of that stuff. At that moment, I decide to text my friends later, they'll understand.
I put in my earphones and look for a song in my phone. Finding it, I click it and 'Feels' by Calvin Harris starts playing. It is such a good song, it definitely captures the summer vibes, and it most definitely puts me in a good mood.
I continue to eat my egg while slightly dancing, trying not to capture too much attention.
All I have left is the bread so I take a bite out of it.
