{Zerina POV}

I held my breath and slowly swam down to the bottom of the half frozen pond. i needed to save my energy. once i got to the bottom, i sat cross legged and closed my eyes to concentrate. my hair tickled my face and a few bubbles escaped through my nose.

i had been underwater for approximately 3 minutes and 47 seconds, though i didn't know how i knew. two more minutes and i will break my record.  all of the sudden i felt a presence next to me. i opened my eyes and found a old woman sitting next to me drinking tea out of a blue teacup. i gasped and water rushed into my mouth causing me to cough. i swam up to the surface and sat on the ice. water dripped from my hair and body and i coughed up more water.

was that real? how could she be drinking tea underwater? that defies the laws of physics! "Zerina, you were only hallucinating from lack of oxygen. it is impossible and highly improbable." i try to tell myself as i shiver on the ice. "impossible, no. difficult, absolutely." a voice said from behind me. i turn and find the same old woman. she wears a cream kimono, wooden sandals, and a straw hat. her white hair is pulled back into a bun with chopsticks keeping it in place and she holds a bamboo staff and a blue teapot.

my eyes widen. " who are you?" i ask her. "i am Sensei Sue." she replies. "how were you able to drink tea underwater?" i question. "with the proper training, you can accomplish anything." she answers poking my in the chest with her staff. "the ice shines bright in you, i can train you to harvest it in the way of the ninja."

i thought about it. i would be much more happy with Sensei Sue than spending the rest of my life alone. " i would be honored to accompany you." i reply. "wonderful.  and child, cover up. you're going to catch a cold." she says handing a towel that she was not holding before. i take the towel and wrap it around my shoulders before Sensei Sue leads me further into the forest and into the unknown.
