Frigid was the air,
as I wait for the local train.
Standing outside for the past nine minutes, in the rush hour of day,
An idea popped into my mind. (I'm at a bus terminal, and buses have heat, two plus two equals whatever I want it to. Why not wait on the bus till the train comes? Good Idea!)
Self-confirmation always makes one feel warm and fuzzy.I step on to a random bus, destination unknown.
The bus driver was occupied, talking to riders about subject matters, to which i was not privy.
I assume he was passing the time, till his schedule was assigned to depart.
I board, walking past the driver seat,
the attendant eyes catch mines from a distant,
as he strolls over, to see if I need help.
I greet him, stern in the face.
Hello! Are you about to leave out?
As i try to calculate, if I have sufficient time to warm up.He replies: "in five minutes".
I concur: Gotcha!
I'm just getting out of the cold for a bit, it's chilly outside.
"I see!" he responds
"Do you happen to have your fare?"I immediately glance at his name tag, persuaded by his answer in disgust,
Phil! This is why you're not invited to the holiday dinner parties!Stunned! Was the expression on his face,
caught between a joke and relative embarrassment.
I hear the passenger's slightly chuckle,
all eyes caught, waiting on a sophisticated rebuttal,I reach into my pocket, to obtain the validating token,
its presentation will quail the driver bureaucratic representation,
He waits patiently, not sure on which way to turn
In the driver's response could be art transformed into a game,Which side of the brain, will he choose?
Smiling in harmony, upon noticing my valid fare.
He then starts to walk with haste, back to his seat of chosen profession,
I follow behind him, with a question in tow.Are you about leave?
As the buckling of his seat belt, complemented his answer: "Yes!"
I stepped off the bus, returning back outside to the cold mother,
before he departed I ask: has it been 5 minutes already?
He waved his hand with a subtle reply:"Don't count the minutes that has passed,"
"Enjoy the moments you can savor!"
